On March 2nd and 3rd I attended the annual National Scholastic Prep Association tournament at the Phhacility. 12 teams battled it out for the playoffs from around the world and competed with Canada, Iowa, Utah, New Mexico and of course Arizona. Three Arizona teams actually made the Final-4 with PHH Prep and the 2 BVP teams.

Here were the Shooting Guard and Small Forward Standouts

[player_tooltip player_id='2574810' first='Wor' last='Wor'] Bella Vista Prep Supreme (Pictured)

A bigger wing forward is a natural scorer from all three levels. He will dunk it easily on the break, hit the catch three, shoot it from mid-range and hit threes off the catch or step back and shoot it. He is a plus defender in space.

[player_tooltip player_id='2218000' first='Chance' last='Houser'] Hillcrest Prep

An athletic wing forward is a two-way player who is a long strider to the basket. He is a pogo stick rebounder to grab it at its highest point and will throw it down way above the rim. He will hit the three and he is a next level finisher in traffic. He will block shots and rebounds well. He verbally committed to Detroit-Mercy.

[player_tooltip player_id='1834650' first='Jelani' last='McKoy'] CIA Bella Vista Prep

One of the top performers is a true 3 and D type with some bounce. He has good length with decent size and will throw it down on the break. He will defend a few positions and shoots the three at a high clip. He has improved his shooting every year.

[player_tooltip player_id='2875092' first='Cheikh' last='Biteye'] CIA Bella Vista Prep

A twitchy long wing forward who seems to defend every position on the court. He hustles for loose balls and will dive on the floor, rebound the ball at a good clip and block shots. He is a next level athlete who can hit the three and score it in transition.

[player_tooltip player_id='1540144' first='Quintin' last='Ragland'] Tucson Premier Prep

A two-way guard plays with a big motor to rebound and collects steals in bunches. He will score it in transition and shoot it with mid-range pull-up, which is his sweet spot, offensive rebound put backs and threes. He can defend a couple positions.

[player_tooltip player_id='2147242' first='Isaac' last='McNair'] Tucson Premier Prep

A shooting guard with some size and bounce. He is an athletic attacker to the basket getting downhill with quicker first step and very long strides. He will shoot it with mid-range jumpers and threes off the catch or pull. He is aggressive to the basket to score or earn trips to the FT line.

[player_tooltip player_id='2875539' first='Beckham' last='King'] PHH Prep

A long and lean face-up power forward has one of the prettiest strokes in the building. He has a very high release and one of those shots that look good on every attempt. He will get on the glass and come over from the weak side and block shots plus rebound. Once he fills in, he will be even better.

[player_tooltip player_id='2115124' first='DJ' last='Childs'] PHH Prep

An athletic forward can play either forward position. He is an inside and out threat who has some serious springs and good hands to catch tough passes and he is hyper athletic to throw it down on the break. He can hit the three off the catch and he is a sneaky good passer for position.

[player_tooltip player_id='3553113' first='Jonah' last='Buonaugurio'] Tucson Premier Prep

A crafty and skilled combo guard who can play on or off the ball. He comes with a high feel and he is a good passer and will drive and kick it to a teammate. He will hit the three off the catch and plays from the neck up.

[player_tooltip player_id='2404558' first='Ray' last='Porter'] Tucson Premier Prep

An athletic wing forward is a natural slasher. He can get downhill with longer strides and uses either hand to finish in traffic. He will hit the three when left open and he is a sneaky good passer. He makes his money on defense with rebounding in his area and blocking shots.
