We recently published of our first draft of the 2029 class rankings, with 60 players ranked across the state. Here's a look at part one of the prospects in the NOVA area in the rankings.

#4) [player_tooltip player_id='2440984' first='Brayden' last='Ragland'] | 6'6” PF | Highland School

Ragland was perhaps the most impressive freshman this season, as he started for a Highland squad that won the MPSC Championship, went to the VISAA D-I semifinals, and he put up consistent numbers as the youngest player in the Elite Prep League too. The easy comparison at this point is Grant Williams as he may be a slightly undersized tweener but he's strong and explosive in the paint to rebound and finish above the rim, he can post defenders and score it efficiently at the rim, he can stretch the floor from deep, and he can rebound and defend against bigger players too.

#5) Kenneth “KJ” Rivers | 5'11” PG | Paul VI

Rivers may have only saw spot minutes on a PVI team that was WCAC and VISAA D-I champions who will likely play for a national championship too, but if he was anywhere else he would have been a starter no doubt about it. The 5'11” guard is mature for his age as he handles pressure well and makes great decisions with the ball in his hands, he can score it off the bounce from multiple levels, and he's capable of picking up and guarding the ball 94 feet too.

#7) [player_tooltip player_id='3538905' first='Kenny' last='Boyd III'] | 6'4” SF | Paul VI

Boyd is another player that only saw spot minutes for the best team in the state, but if he was at a public school or a lower level WCAC school he would've started most likely too. He has all the tools to be the best player in this class as he has long arms and a basketball frame that is likely still growing, he's already bouncy enough to play above the rim and is nowhere near as close to what he will be from an explosive standpoint, he can handle and create in isolation situations, and he can score the ball from all three levels.

#14) [player_tooltip player_id='3538912' first='Jaydon' last='Harris'] | 6'2” PG | Westfield

Harris is the son of Westfield Head Coach Kevin Harris and the younger brother of Duke's Darren Harris, and while he came off the bench for the VHSL Class 6 state champions he'll be the guy moving forward for the Bulldogs. The 6'2” guard is likely still growing and already has an understanding of the game well beyond his years, he has a tight handle and good burst to make plays off the bounce, he can move off the ball and knocks it down with consistency, and he plays with a lot of toughness on both ends of the floor.

#16) [player_tooltip player_id='3538915' first='Travis' last='Clegg'] | 6'3” SG | Paul VI

Clegg is another talented freshman on this PVI team to keep an eye on moving forward, as he is another one that would have started at any public school in the area. The 6'3” off guard has a great frame already that is likely still growing and will continue to fill out as he grows into it, he is a bouncy finisher in transition and has the ability to finish through traffic when he gets downhill, he can handle in transition and has good speed in the open floor, and he's a standout baseball player as well.

#19) [player_tooltip player_id='3538918' first='Christian' last='Towe'] | 5'10” PG | Hayfield

Towe was given the reigns from the moment he stepped on the floor at Hayfield, and he was perhaps the most impressive freshman in the DMV this season. He shows maturity and toughness beyond his years as he doesn't back down from any matchups and often outplayed guards older than him, he's a dead eye shooter from deep with effortless range out past the college line, he's very good in ball screens and dribble hand-offs, and he competes on the defensive end as well.

#20) [player_tooltip player_id='3538919' first='Jalen' last='Farrell'] | 6'2” CG | Osbourn Park

Farrell was a big part of an impressive turnaround for Osbourn Park this year, as he not only started but was their primary ball handler and creator throughout the season. He has a tight handle and does a good job changing speeds and directions, he lives in the paint and makes great reads both when defenses collapse and when he gets out in transition, he showed the ability to score it from all three levels, and he has a knack for making big plays on both ends of the floor too.

#36) [player_tooltip player_id='3539415' first='Dominic' last='Laws'] | 6'1” CG | Langley

Laws was another impressive freshman in NOVA public schools, as he showed his ability to play both guard positions and make an impact on both ends of the floor too. The 6'1” combo is great in ball screens and makes good reads when he gets in the lane, he's a lights out shooter who can spot up or come off of screens and he's very good at setting his feet and letting it fly on the move, and he has great instincts on the defensive end to get deflections and challenge shots.
