Lutheran won the state championship after a roller coaster season, and it was about balance and players stepping up in key moments. One of their players who made a difference in the second half of the season is 6'1 combo guard Makkai. Makkai is a player we did not know a ton about heading into the year, but his play not only got him on our radars, but he was a pivotal part of the championship run. He averaged 8.3 points 2.7 rebounds, and just under 2 steals a game. He had moments where he got hot from deep, he scored in bunches, and was the primary defender who slowed down guards. He did what was asked of him, and that is how you earn more minutes. Makkai finished off senior year with a bang.

Eaton has been on a bit of a run the past few years as they provide balance, and you can always pencil them in as a team that is going to play hard and the right way. One of their Seniors who was big time in their run is super athlete [player_tooltip player_id='2381752' first='Austin' last='Crider']. Crider is a 6'6 big man who is a force on the boards, he runs the floor and goes right up, and he is comfortable in the paint. He's a player who finished well around the rim, hit mid-range shots, and kept plays alive for Eaton. This under-the-radar standout put up 10.7 points and 8 rebounds a game. He had a few double-doubles and showed that their size could be stifling at times. He's a player who we got eyes on, and he impressed. He makes his debut in the rankings.

Cohen was so close to a 1,000-point scorer that I am hoping for a stat correction that gets him through. He was steady throughout his career, led Manitou Springs to some winning seasons, but what he was able to do as a Senior had him as one of the top unranked guards in the class. Barrett filled it up, averaging 13.7 points. He only did not score in double figures in four games, he averaged 4.7 assists and 4.7 rebounds a game, which shows his impact on other parts of the game, and he got just under 3 steals a game. Barrett was a two-way standout who got to his spots, attacked in iso, and got to the FT line. He played the passing lanes and turned that into buckets the other way and finished up a pretty solid HS career. He makes his debut in the rankings after a stellar season as a prospect we should've been on much, much sooner.

Denver Waldorf had a pretty big season, and a player who got on our radar for the first time is [player_tooltip player_id='2079122' first='Cayden' last='Quinn']. Quinn finished as a 1,000-point scorer in his career, but he was also able to light it up in every other category. In his senior year, he finished with an impressive stat line of 15.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3.5 steals a game. He was on a scoring tear this season, and while he was not on our radars, opposing teams knew EXACTLY who he was. Quinn's versatility made it difficult to slow Denver Waldorf down; he challenged himself defensively and battled against opposing guards. We wish we could've seen him at more of our tournaments and camps as he appears to be a name that we would've known sooner. Big career for him as a small school standout who is now on our final ranking.

Boulder was a two-man wrecking crew as they had two double-digit scorers who led the way. [player_tooltip player_id='1622330' first='Lake' last='Smith'] is a name who jumped on our radars last year, but Stamm is who was the newcomer of the year for that conference. Stamm had one of the biggest jumps in a season as he went from 2 points a game as a junior to his senior year, averaging 13.6 points a game, and made the most of his opportunities. He finished with 20 or more points multiple times as he was forced to step up and be the scorer, he attacked downhill and finished in traffic. Defensively he was a pest as well and this is where he made his biggest impact. Stamm finished with 2.6 steals a game and refused to be scored on in 1-on-1 situations. Big year for him that got him on the radars.

[player_tooltip player_id='2809444' first='River' last='Sawyer'] was big time this season and put the state on notice as he helped get University all the way to the state championship and even had one of his biggest games of the year in the state championship. Rivers finished up the year with 18.7 points, 4.5 rebound and 2.1 steals a game. When watching him, the thing that stands out is that he just seems to always be doing something impactful. He's a high-IQ guard who reads the defense, is always probing, and is a three-level scorer. Sawyer was a big-time scorer who only did not score in double figures in one game. He was the team's captain and emotional leader on the floor and was a player who turned many heads since returning to the state. Not only is he making his rankings debut, but he will be high in the rankings from what we saw from him. Big year for him.
