Bumila was, again, ridiculously dominant in the championship game against Central Catholic. He's completely impossible to stop on the offensive boards because he's 6-foot-9, long, athletic, and has phenomenal hands. Once he gets rebounds, he does a good job finishing with his left (and if he doesn't, he gets that rebound and finishes it). He's always around the ball, and he's just playing on a different stratosphere than the rest of the MIAA. He got in early foul trouble, but he stayed disciplined the rest of the game and found a way to play major minutes regardless—Bumila ended with 36 points and 21 rebounds, but he also impacted a number of shots on the defensive end. He's playing baseball at Texas next year, but he was a D1 basketball player if he wanted to be.

Lopez did everything he could to keep Central Catholic in the game, especially in the fourth quarter. As Bishop Feehan pulled away late, the senior hit multiple heavily-contested three point shots and showed that he has the clutch gene. He also had some nice finishes against Bumila in the paint and showcased that he's prepared to play at the next level against bigger and stronger players. Lopez couldn't get a state championship, but he had a commendable performance in the championship game and a phenomenal high school career in the big picture. Excited to see what he does at Brandeis.

Brea-Arias was St. Mary's best player in their championship game against Masco. The 6-foot-5 forward had a head-tapping dunk late in the game and also hit the game's winning bucket in the paint, but he was fairly dominant throughout. He does an amazing job rebounding the ball on the offensive end—his long arms, athleticism, and motor allow him to attack every ball—and at the rim, he has an ambidextrous style of finishing and is just as effective with his left as his right. I was also super impressed with Brea-Arias' passing instincts on Sunday, which have improved significantly just during this season from what I've watched.

Farrell almost put Masco on his back and carried his team to a finals' win. He was lethal in the mid range (as always), but he also did a great job getting to the rim and finishing with contact—he had numerous and-ones and was living in the paint all day. Farrell missed a potential game-winner, but he kept Masco in the game for a long time and was a total stud for them this season. He's going to be looked at by high level D3 programs, and his game is going to translate very well to the next level, though the uptick in talent will be jarring at the beginning as a result of coming from the MIAA. Bright future ahead for Farrell and an excellent high school career in the books.

Rodriguez had a finals' performance for Salem that he'll remember forever. The junior guard hit a three on the first possession of the game, and he never looked back. He was extremely aggressive all game, whether it was getting all the way to the rim, stopping short at the free-throw line for pull-up jumpers, or punishing defenders when they went under screens. Down the stretch, he hit a huge three to put Salem over the top, and he was his squad's most important player during their championship run. Rodriguez is an awesome player, and he'll have a decent argument as the best player in the MIAA to start next season.

Mutschler has really grown on me. The more I've watched him, the more he has impressed me with his all-around game on both ends. The 6-foot-5 point-forward is his team's biggest player, but he's also the most adept at driving to the rim and making plays for his teammates. He's stronger and more athletic than other MIAA players at the D3 level, but he also makes good decisions once the help comes. He can hit pull-up jumpers, too. Defensively, he's versatile and tough, so he's effective on that end. Mutschler is a definite college player and one of the most underrated players in the MIAA.
