The 2026 MHSAA finals weekend was as thrilling of a chapter in recent memory. Mr Basketball playing like Mr Basketball. Upsets, freshman showing out, generational scoring performances, and clutch play. The weekend had it all.

I'll provide boots on the ground all tournament teams for all four divisions. First up is Michigan's smallest classification, Division IV

PG- Jett Smith 5-10 2026 Concord The point guard for the state champions gets the first spot. Scored 13 and 14 points respectively. However the points only tell part of the story. Held up well against a quick and aggressive Detroit Douglass backcourt. Was quick and decisive with the ball in his hands. Balanced playmaking and scoring responsibilities well. Seemed to get the clutch struggles out of his system on Thursday night (his whole team struggled in the clutch) Was outstanding on during winning time on Saturday.

SG- Damani Oliver 5-10 2029 Detroit Douglass If you paid any attention this weekend. You would realize quickly that the 2029 class in Michigan is deep and talented. Oliver announced himself into that group with a strong weekend on the big stage. The quick and shifty point guard was difficult to guard. Kicked off the weekend with a 21 point outing. Seemed to make appropriate in game adjustments as he acclimated to a bigger shooting environment. As 17 of his 21 points came in the second half. Followed by 15 points in the final. The cheat code element is a smooth and effortless release from the perimeter. You can't sag off him to stop penetration. Will need to get bigger and perhaps become more of a pure point guard going forward due to his size. But there is a lot to like and work with already.

SF- [player_tooltip player_id='2964366' first='Baron' last='Colbert II'] 6-2 2027 Dollar Bay (pictured) I first caught Colbert in the fall at a Prep Hoops showcase. Consequently, I was well aware that he had the athleticism and skill set to play with the best players in the state. That being said, not sure I was expecting a 23 point outburst against a team from the Detroit Public School League. Colbert has excellent positional size at 6-2. Gets off the ground quickly with good acceleration and explosion at the rim. From deep in the heart of the UP on the Keweenaw Peninsula. This might have been one of Colbert's only opportunities to make a statement below the bridge. If it was, it was certainly a strong one.

PF- Cody Osbun 6-3 2027 Wyoming Tri-Unity Christian The only player on this list with prior Breslin Center experience. Osbun nearly willed his team to a dramatic come from behind victory against Concord. Capped the comeback with game tying three at the buzzer to send the game into overtime. Did it by going the length of the court to hit a straight on three. Versatility was readily apparent. Showed ability down low and out on the perimeter. Evidenced by a 16 point 11 rebound double double. Played with the emerging West Michigan Premier AAU squad last spring/summer. Another offseason of improvement could make him one of the top players in the division next year.

C- [player_tooltip player_id='2935086' first='Connor' last='Stevens'] 6-6 Concord I don't do MVP's in this series, but if I did it would go to the post from the eventual state championship winners. Stevens did it all for the Yellowjackets. Handled the ball well for a post. Seemed to be a safety valve when things started to go haywire. Showed good footwork on the block and a soft touch near the rim. Put up a double double in both contests. The semifinal line a was 16 point and 10 rebound outing. Saved his best for last though. The 15 point and 19 rebound performance was historic. The sixth most in the state final game history. Placing the Trine (IN) commit in exclusive company with Michigan high school greats.

Second Team

PG-Jacodi Nathan 5-8 2027 Detroit Douglass Small but jet quick point hard had a strong weekend for the state runner-ups. Was somewhat quiet on Thursday night. Broke out Saturday when the stakes were raised. Competed hard with a quick Concord backcourt. Put up 12 points and provided pestering on ball defense. Coming off a strong spring/summer with the [program_tooltip program_id='2078459' first='Michigan' last='Playmakers'].

SG-[player_tooltip player_id='2839748' first='Darrell' last='Dean Jr'] 6-1 2027 Concord Like Nathan, a quieter Thursday gave way to a championship breakout. Put up 15 points in the banner raising victory. Has good size for a point guard. Showed an extra gear on penetration and the ability to finish through contact at the rim. With Smith's graduation (see above) should be the full time point guard next year. Accordingly could be one of the top players in the division.

SF- [player_tooltip player_id='1806436' first='Liam' last='Tourtillott'] 6-1 2027 Dollar Bay One of the top three point shooters in the Upper Peninsula wrapped an outstanding career with a strong outing. Put up 14 points against heavy Detroit Douglas pressure. Showed the patented deep touch with two threes.

PF- [player_tooltip player_id='2539725' first='Dimauvion' last='Smith-Powe'] 6-3 2028 Detroit Douglass Do it all forward prospect had a good weekend for the Hurricanes. The versatility was evident in the stat line (or lack therof) Didn't score in double figure in either game. But impacted the game in a wide variety of ways. Bulky and stocky build belied his guard skillset. As only a sophomore, has a bright future like the rest of his underclassmen laden team.

C-Zack Stevens 6-4 2029 Concord Did I mention Michigan's 2029 class is talented? This weekend was my first chance to catch this lanky prospect. Very skinny and looks like a freshman, but certainly doesn't play like it. Competed hard on the glass and the defensive end. Runs the court fluidly. A lot of upside with this prospect if he can add weight to his frame. Despite graduating quite a bit of production. Concord should stay near the top of the division with players like Stevens, Dean (see above) and Marcus Gill Jr
