The #12 Buccaneers of Caravel Academy went into #5 Middletown and pulled off the upset win – 58-51. And in the process, multiple prospects across both teams showed why they were still alive in the playoff hunt. Here are five of them:

[player_tooltip player_id='2851756' first='Kingston' last='Hicks'] | 6'4 F 2027 Caravel

New to the starting lineup, Hicks made a difference with his athleticism and length inside the arc. The junior forward helped the Buccaneers compensate for their height disadvantage with his effort as a rim protector. He altered several shots and crashed the boards on both ends. Hicks also made himself available around the basket for high percentage buckets, finishing with 8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks.

[player_tooltip player_id='2371045' first='Niquan' last='Lee Jr'] | 6'2 G 2027 Caravel

Lee's all-around floor game played a major role in the Bucs pulling out the upset over Mtown. An athletic guard, he came up with offensive boards in crucial moments, including the one that directly led to [player_tooltip player_id='2851758' first='Jakob' last='Goldstein'] tying the game at the end of regulation. Lee got key stops throughout and helped facilitate. Then in overtime, he scored 6 points, including 4 straight free throws (8-1 overall) to seal the win. He totalled 14 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals.

[player_tooltip player_id='2371040' first='Michael' last='Sheehan'] Jr | 6'1 G 2027 Caravel

Sheehan is off to Carnegie Mellon in the Fall, but he did everything in his power to extend his high school career for a little bit longer. He uncorked a pair of threes in the first quarter while the Bucs got their footing. After that, Sheehan seemed to be everywhere. Despite being the shortest player in the starting lineup, he led the team in rebounds and flew around to force turnover after turnover. Sheehan scored a game-high 15 points, plus 7 boards, and 6 steals.

[player_tooltip player_id='2386202' first='Jaelen' last='Murphy'] | 6'2 G 2027 Middletown

Murphy set the tone from the opening tip with a dunk, just two seconds into the game. When was aggressive, his slashing was a potent source of offense. Murphy flashed those same movement skills on the opposite end too, leading the Cavaliers to a few takeaways. He paced Mtown with 14 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 stocks (1s 2b).

[player_tooltip player_id='2442708' first='King' last='Savior'] | 6'7 W/F 2027 Middletown

On one side or another, Savior had intriguing displays of talent and skill. He used his vast wingspan to disrupt the Bucs offense, gloving passes in-space and erasing shots at the rim. And with the ball in his hands, Savior drained a couple catch-and-shoot treys and created for himself from different spots, totalling 12 points,7 boards, and 5 stocks (2s 3b).

Caravel advances to take on #4 St. Georges on Saturday in the quarterfinals.
