Class AAAA State Tournament: Predicting the Seeds

Who should be where in the section seeds when the teams meet tomorrow? We give you our thoughts on the one through eight now!

Section 2AAAA: Chaska (25-4)

Section 3AAAA: Apple Valley (19-10)

Section 4AAAA: Tartan (29-0)

Section 5AAAA: Maple Grove (23-6)

Section 6AAAA: Wayzata (25-3)

Section 7AAAA: Blaine (22-6)

Section 8AAAA: Alexandria (21-7)

What do we think the seeds should look like?

(1) Tartan vs (8) Blaine

(5) Chaska vs (4) Lakeville South

(2) Wayzata vs (7) Apple Valley

(3) Maple Grove vs (6) Alexandria

Starting at one, Tartan is undefeated. Pretty simple number one to me

As for two, Wayzata seems like the clear number two on the resume BUT...... Maple Grove did beat them twice. So if you are going head to head, Maple Grove might sneak over Wayzata. That said, Maple Grove has lost to Tartan, Buffalo, Nicolet out of Wisconsin and to Hopkins twice. And Wayzata beat Hopkins three teams. Wayzata has the better resume, Maple Grove has the head to head.

But it's the 2 vs 3 so does it really matter much? Only if you get real picky about the six and the seven.

The four loss Hawks should be the four at first glance BUT..... Lakeville South beat Chaska! South is ahead of Chaska by one in QRF, Chaska is head of South in the state rankings by one, I think Chaska has less bad losses than South but I think South has a few more good wins. So back to that head to head I guess.

And it's the four versus five game so does it matter? Only if you care about uniforms I guess.

Now the six seed. I think it should be Alex. They played Tartan to a two score game and Maple Grove to a three score game and even though they have the lowest QRF I think they have the better resume when it comes to Apple Valley and Blaine.

Apple Valley has the most losses but they also have the better resume and better wins than Blaine so I think the Eagles should be the seven and the Bengals the eight.
