Weekend Warriors: Top Performers (Feb. 5-7)

District hoops action is heating up throughout the state of New Mexico. A month from now the state tournament will be underway. Here are the Weekend Warriors for Feb. 5-7:   Jacoby Apachito, Tularosa: Led the Wildcats with 17 points as Tularosa improved to 19-3 with a key district win over NMMI.   Juan Arellano, Miyamura: Scored a team-high 12 points with 4 rebounds and 4 assists in Miyamura's win over Aztec.   Chase Atkinson, Oak Grove Classical: Scored 19 points to spark Oak Grove Classical to a win over Legacy Academy.   [player_tooltip player_id='2714777' first='Nathan' last='Autrey'], Texico: Led a balanced Wolverines scoring attack with 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting and grabbed 8 rebounds to spark Texico to a win over Fort Sumner/House. Jaheim Moses added 16 points and three 3-pointers, while [player_tooltip player_id='2833696' first='Jett' last='Curtis'] had 15 points and 4 rebounds.     Collin Bennett, Tse'Yi'Gai: Scored 13 points with three 3-pointers to lead the Dine Warriors in a loss to Northwest.   [player_tooltip player_id='2714613' first='Kaleb' last='Bowannie'], Hozho Academy: Scored 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting with 3 assists and 3 steals in Hozho's victory over Navajo Pine.   [player_tooltip player_id='2833906' first='Brody' last='Brazil'], Mountainair: Led four Mountainair scorers in double figures with 16 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead the Mustangs to a win over Carrizozo. [player_tooltip player_id='2833935' first='Marcos' last='Sisneros'] contributed 14 points and 11 rebounds.   [player_tooltip player_id='2714567' first='Isaiah' last='Brown'], Sandia: Scored a team-high 18 points and hit three 3-pointers with 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in Sandia's huge district win over La Cueva that created a tie between the teams atop the district standings. [player_tooltip player_id='2980447' first='Malachi' last='Knox'] added 14 points and 5 rebounds for Sandia.     [player_tooltip player_id='2694526' first='Hunter' last='Butler'], La Cueva: Scored 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in the Bears' close loss to Sandia on Friday night. [player_tooltip player_id='2694512' first='Tony' last='Trujillo'] added 14 points and four 3-pointers.   [player_tooltip player_id='2833709' first='Dontrey' last='Callado'], Santa Fe Indian: Scored his team's first seven points of the game, hit several 3-pointers and was a defensive ace in Santa Fe Indian's convincing home win over Hot Springs Saturday.          Myka Candeleria, Tohatchi: Scored 20 points  and grabbed 9 rebounds to lead Tohatchi to a win over Thoreau.   Logan Elliott, Raton: Scored 20 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in Raton's loss to Santa Rosa.   Edwin Gallegos, Floyd: Scored 19 points with three 3-pointers in Floyd's close loss to Elida.   Zander Griego, Farmington: Scored 19 points in the Scorpions' loss to Rio Rancho Friday night at home. Farmington hosts Cleveland Tuesday night in another key district battle. Senior Eythan Castillo scored 19 points for the Indians.   Kory Harvey, Crownpoint: Scored a team-high 13 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, handed out 4 assists and had 4 steals in Crownpoint's close win over Ramah.   Aaron Herrera, Alamogordo: Led the Tigers with 17 points in a hard-fought loss to Centennial.   Gustas Komparskas, Menaul: Led five Menaul scorers in double figures with 13 points as the Panthers trounced Jemez Valley. Komparskas hit three 3-pointers and added 4 assists. Nojus Hinz had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds with four steals.     [player_tooltip player_id='2216708' first='Michael' last='Marr'], Robertson: Scored 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting to propel the Cardinals to a win over Santa Fe Prep. Shane Montoya, Magdalena: Scored a team-high 15 points and grabbed 4 rebounds to lead Magdalena to a lopsided victory over Reserve. Noah Guerro added 13 points with three 3-pointers. Jonas Saiz, Oak Grove Classical: Scored 21 points on Saturday to lead Oak Grove to a victory over NACAECA. Oak Grove is 13-6 overall and unbeaten in district play at 6-0.     Nico Sanchez, Highland: Scored a team-high 17 points with 3 assists and 3 steals as Highland continued to roll with a 53-40 win over Albuquerque Academy on Saturday. Joshua Villafuerte, Estancia: Scored 26 points, more than half of his team's total, and made 5 steals in a close loss to Raton on Saturday.   Charlie Wills, Eldorado: Scored 21 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished out 4 assists in Eldorado's win over Manzano on Friday night.
