Varsity Basketball Spotlight- Traders Point Christian Knights

Traders Point Christian is one of those small schools that play the game the right way. This is a fundamentally sound program that gets the most out of their players.    The big man is an exceptional shooter! He plays both JV and Varsity basketball for Traders Point Christian High School. What makes this astounding, is his Freshman status. Bryce is already a star player and he literally just arrived on campus. He knocked down a combined seven three-pointers in both games. Bryce is an excellent passer who showed a knack for finding his teammates in scoring positions. He plays strong in the paint and does all the things a big man does. Whether it's setting screens, blocking shots or grabbing rebounds, Bryce found ways of being a difference maker. Defensively, he protected the paint and made scoring a difficult task for the opposition. Bryce is a promising young player with a great future ahead of him.     A shifty ball handler who used a variety of moves to get around defenders. Leo is a team player who makes all the necessary plays to help the team win games. Whether it's attacking the basket, fighting for rebounds, knocking down mid-range jumpers or long distance threes, Leo found ways to be effective. He's a very efficient passer. When he saw teammates cutting to the basket, his passes were always on time. The majority of his points were scored when the Knights ran the floor. Leo scored multiple lay-ups and numerous jump-shots in transition. Defensively, Leo excelled at timing passing lanes and generating steals. Leo is a player I expect to have an excellent Senior season next year.     A shifty point guard who excelled at scoring the ball and making plays. Josh is a great ball handler. He often beat opponents off the dribble and found ways of making positive plays. Whenever he found himself in one-on-one match-ups, Josh attacked his opponent and scored. There were moments in the game, when he used the hesitation dribble to knock down jump-shots or attack the paint. Josh is an excellent three point shooter when he's given the option. During the match-up against Herron High School, he converted two shots from beyond the arc. Josh showed great play-making skills by leading the team in assists. Defensively, he made handling the ball a difficult task when he pressured opposing guards into turnovers. Josh is an excellent "floor leader" who shows signs of being a future great.     This young man was definitely Trader Point Christian's best shooter. Quentin was great at finding ways of making himself available within the Knights offense. He stayed in constant motion by running around player screens or using the dribble to free himself. There was a sequence in the game, when Quentin caught fire. He knocked down two consecutive threes and energized his teammates. Occasionally, he attacked the paint and scored on lay-ups at the basket. Quentin was very effective shooting the basketball. After watching him play, I definitely view him as more of a shooter than a person who attacks the basket. In my opinion, Quentin has a weapon that all coaches want to have on their teams. The unlimited ability of shooting the basketball.     Micah is an excellent rebounder who dominated the glass on both ends of the court. He led his team in rebounding throughout the game. Micah is an big-time athlete who plays a physical game. In warm-ups he completed a variety of dunks that showed his athleticism. He scored in the paint using various moves around the basket. Opposing defenders had a difficult time guarding him. Micah was great on the defensive side of the ball. Micah showed the ability to guard players everywhere on the court. He was great at defending in the post. Micah also held his own when he defended on the perimeter. He didn't allow himself to get beaten off the dribble. Micah protected the paint by blocking and contesting shots. He's an excellent player who will only get better as he improves his skills offensively.
