We were at the Pinckneyville Panthers Showcase over the weekend and it was a fun day of hoops! Time to dive into the players that caught our attention today looking at the 2028 and 2029 prospects!

[player_tooltip player_id='2751256' first='Archie' last='Goewey'] (Centralia – 2028)

Goewey continues to impress as the Orphans small forward had 17 points in a win over Waltonville. Well-built small forward that has a clean looking shot from distance, cuts off the ball, and can post up. Living up to his billing as a top 20 prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='2826261' first='Kenny' last='Bratton'] (Centralia – 2028)

Bratton has taken his hoops game to new heights this season. Always been a freak athlete, but his handles have really improved which was shown putting it on the deck for a sweeping take to open the game. Got on the offensive glass, played above the rim with multiple dunks, and was impactful defensively as he had 8 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2389804' first='Lucas' last='Thompson'] (Triad – 2028)

Thompson is a skilled small forward with a solid frame. Can handle it playing with the ball in his hands along with being an effective spot up shooter at 6'6”. Showed he could pass it off live dribbles making sound reads as he had 10 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2873383' first='Christian' last='Swalley'] (Greenville – 2028)

Liked what Swalley brought as a 6'1” shooting guard with some projection. Plus athlete that can really shoot it off the catch. Was at his best off movement looking for his shot. Made four of them from beyond the arc en route to 18 points.

Trey Branch (Centralia – 2029)

Branch is a young freshman point guard that for the second event in a row showed promise. Multiple sweet passes on a bullet dime through traffic along with lob pass. Creative finisher at the cup who also is a switchable defender on the defensive end as he had 4 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2871705' first='Brayden' last='Watson'] (Mascoutah – 2029)

Watson is a name we had heard about, but got our first look at as the 6'5” forward has a good frame and length. The bounce and quickness around the hoop is what stood out to us. Freshman is a very good rebounder and solid defender including swatting a shot. Runs the floor hard and got to the line at a nice clip where he hit at a good rate.

[player_tooltip player_id='2916484' first='Taevon' last='Petty'] (Greenville – 2029)

Petty flashed some long term developmental upside with his 6'2” frame and length. Was effective on the glass snatching rebounds and pushed in the open floor on a coast to coast take for a finish. Work to do, but upside is there.

Majok Ater (Principia – 2029)

Long and thin 6'9” center definitely showed flashes in their win in the last game of the event. Finished extremely well out of the dunker spot. Quickness off the floor and played to his strength. Lot of room to grow physically and skill wise, but he has plenty of time and a bright future. Notched 6 points.
