We all know who fills up the box score each time out. The leading scorers, the names that jump off the stat sheet. But winning basketball is built on more than scoring. Now, as a Senior, it has his team as a contender. He's a true X-factor who could easily be a go-to guy on other teams. There are also stretches this year where he looks like their most important player. He's been very consistent as a scorer; he takes shots that the defense gives him, but occasionally steps out and makes plays happen. He has some monster games this season and looks to be one of the best defenders in the entire conference. He's a player who deserves more attention, and his play has led to wins for the Wildcats

Torres is a 6'3 do-it-all wing for the 18-1 Wildcats, and that hasn't been with a cupcake schedule. They're playing extremely well, and their glue guy, Torres, is a big reason as to why. He scores with ease and is averaging 9.4 points a game as he stays shot-ready. He's come into his own for the new year and is a reason why. AW is putting together its best stretch of games right now. He can score from all three levels. He also rebounds strongly and does the dirty work. I like how he's operating in the passing lanes, and he's not a name that you know too much of, but should be getting more attention as a glue guy

Ralston Valley

Ralston Valley looks like one of the favorites to win it all on the season, and they just suffered their first loss. While they have an incredible guard/big man duo, they also have other pieces that have them playing extremely well right now, who deserve more attention. Senior 6'6 forward [player_tooltip player_id='2637503' first='Cole' last='Spain'] has been a workhorse who does the work others won't. He battles inside, he keeps the ball rotating, and stretches the floor. He's also a defensive force who knows his role, and that provides comfort. He's playing well right now, and that cannot be overlooked. He deserves a push right now.

Pfeifer is a multi-sport athlete who is all about precision. He finds a way to stay on the floor, and his ability to blend in but also stand out by starring in his role also helps with the flow of the team. He stays out of the way and is not a player who is on the scouting report, but that hurts teams. He's constantly moving, he shoots open shots to keep the defense honest, and he is a player who offers defensive versatility. He has Ralston Valley playing well.

Columbine

Columbine has a trio that gets most of the shots and attention when it comes to this squad, but another player that is emerging is a 6'3 junior prospect that we haven't written about yet. Mooney has been an interior presence for Columbine, who does all of the small things. Sets hard screens and rolls, catches as a release, and gets it back to their leading scorers and keeps plays alive with his effort. But occasionally, he's also been their scoring option, who keeps defenses honest. He's had a few double-figure games this season, he rebounds well, and is a catalyst. He's a player who helps them operate and is an X-factor.

Scout is a player who may not wow you with his stats, but he certainly is a team player who helps the team operate and continues to make plays happen. There are sacrifices that players make, and he's one of those players. This season, he's had a few moments where defenses sagged off of him, or he worked just hard enough to get some baskets and help with the pressure off of teammates. He plays hard, runs the floor, and is a glue guy who deserves some attention.

We all know who fills up the box score each time out. The leading scorers, the names that jump off the stat sheet. But winning basketball is built on more than scoring. It's built on the guys who do the dirty work, set the tone, and keep the team steady when things get chaotic. The engines for their team. The pairs that impact winning in ways numbers can't explain. Here are the top glue guy duos in the Jeffco League.
