Sometimes a change of scenery can be just what the doctor order & that certainly seems to be the case for 6'9 big man [player_tooltip player_id='1787372' first='Ryder' last='Zanon'] who made the move from Central Catholic to Southridge after his junior season. The opportunity for increased playing time & the improvement in his game have taken him from an after thought to a guy who has college coaches around the region tracking his progress & results closely.

"Overall the season has gone well, we are leading the Metro League & had some big non league wins including beating Rainier Beach at the LSI." When asked about Southridge's chances in next month's state tournament, Zanon replied "I'm excited about the playoffs, I feel like we have a team that can make a deep run & compete for the title."

Recruiting has definitely picked up for Zanon, as he currently holds an offer from Willamette & is starting to hear regularly from D2 programs such as Seattle Pacific, Cal State San Marcos, & Black Hills State. "Ideally, I'll find a good fit that is closer to home, but the most important thing is how I connect with the players & coaches. Academics will also be a big part of the decision, I want to make sure that I set up myself up for the future."

Scouts Take: Zanon has improved as much as anyone in the 2026 class over the past 18 months. He's worked hard to change his body & the improved conditioning shows up in his game. He possesses a nice touch around the basket & has an array of post up moves that are rarely seen in modern basketball. He has really good hands & is a good passer from both the low & hi post. Offensively he's a college ready player, what that level that will be depends on his continued improvement as a defender & rebounder. Definitely a player whose best basketball is ahead of him.
