<p>Prep Hoops Indiana made the trip to Ossian, Indiana on Friday evening for a Class 3A clash between two teams have good, but under-the-radar seasons. Neither Jay County or Norwell are strangers to winning as programs and have done well throughout the 2025-2026 campaign. This matchup provided a good opportunity to see both teams, along with some solid prospects, for the first time this season.</p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='2399010' first='Gradin' last='Swoveland'] wasted no time getting going for the Patriots of Jay County. He was hot out of the gate scoring 10 points in the opening period including a pair of three-point shots. The McBride brothers, Nick and Josh, helped keep pace for Norwell though and the Knights held onto a 17-14 advantage after one quarter.</p>

<p>The three-point shots continued to fall for Jay County in the second quarter. Swoveland connected on two more, Gabe Overton knocked one down, and [player_tooltip player_id='2411083' first='Jayden' last='Comer'] got loose for his first bucket of the game from beyond the arc as well. Norwell's offense went cold and it allowed the Patriots to jump in front 26-23. From there they would never look back.</p>

<p>After Swoveland's big first half, Comer stepped up and took over in the third quarter. The Patriots leading scorer on the season poured in 13 points in the quarter. It was difficult to pull away though because [player_tooltip player_id='2267057' first='Nick' last='McBride'] was getting hot for the Knights as well. Ultimately, Jay County took a 39-35 lead into the fourth quarter.</p>

<p>Swoveland stepped up once again in the final eight minutes and connected on three more three-point shots to extend Jay County's advantage. Norwell simply couldn't keep up with the shooting barrage from deep and ended up losing on their home floor 54-44. The win improved the Patriots season record to 17-3 while Norwell fell to 12-8.</p>

<p>6'7" unsigned senior [player_tooltip player_id='2399010' first='Gradin' last='Swoveland'] finished with 25 points, including seven three-point shots, to lead all scorers in the game. Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2411083' first='Jayden' last='Comer'] added 21 points for the Patriots.</p>

<p>For Norwell, it was junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2267057' first='Nick' last='McBride'] that lead the way with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals. Sophomore guard [player_tooltip player_id='2617849' first='Josh' last='McBride'] added 11 points for the Knights.</p>
