The end to the regular season for Greater Houston high school basketball has definitely been a time to remember. Multiple teams jockeying for position at the top of districts going into playoffs this upcoming week and several new players stepping up in big moments. Cypress has been one of the more competitive hotspots I have been able to watch for varsity basketball this year and there are definitely some players who helped carry their teams to success and primed for the postseason. Others may not have come away with wins, but still had impressive performances nonetheless, so let's examine who made the cut for my all-Cypress end of season team.

[player_tooltip player_id='1777936' first='Josh' last='Goodwin Jr.'] led the charge for Cy Ranch in their 65-47 win over Cy Park last week on the road with a total of 27 points. Josh exploded in the first half with 22 of his team's 41 points and scored in every way possible on offense. His playmaking and defensive intensity were tenacious when he was on the court and this also allowed him to convert multiple and-ones at the free throw line, enduring hard contact from opposing defenders. This kind of top caliber play has allowed Josh to receive offers from D1 schools including Texas A&M, Sam Houston, and Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Look for Josh to start receiving more offers soon if he takes the Mustangs deep into the postseason.

Last week was my first time getting to watch [player_tooltip player_id='2345556' first='Daniel' last='Patton'] in action and he was fun to watch as he dominated the interior and controlled the boards for Cy Falls in a 48-37 win over Cy Ridge on the road. Patton came away with 22 points and 15 boards in the statement victory and has been a big part of the Eagles winning tough games all season and having an undefeated finish in district. Daniel recently has gotten offers from SFA and LA Tech and is almost certainly a future D1 prospect. Patton has a good motor on both ends and has a strong IQ that he uses to will his team to win.

Jack was the leading scorer with 19 points for the Langham Creek Lobos in their 62-57 win over the Bridgeland Bears in one of the last district games. Despite not making the playoffs, Langham Creek came in and completely took over the game for the entire duration of the contest and Jack was a big part of this as he demonstrated his versatility by being a 3-level scorer and crashing the boards for second chance points. Brewer had constant mismatches on defense and was able to work past the opposition to the paint on several occasions. Brewer has definitely established himself as an underrated 2027 heading into next year.

Josh Augmon scored the ball in multiple ways against Cy Ranch in a loss at home last week. Augmon came away with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and made plays on both ends to keep the game close at times and he was effective getting buckets off dribble pull up jumpers and getting to the basket against tough coverage. Augmon uses length and wingspan to play passing lanes and consistently hit jumper and finish over any matchup. He is coming off a productive summer with JL3 and continues to dazzle spectators and media alike with the consistency/energy he plays with daily, and Josh currently has a D1 offer from UNLV.

Josh Shelby scored 15 pts in a loss for Bridgeland against Langham Creek at home last week and he accomplished this by fulfilling the role of both playmaker and bucket getter for the Bears in crunch time. Shelby is an underrated jumpshooter from the perimeter and he can convert and-ones at the rim despite tough defensive coverage. He plays hands-on perimeter defense, and this allows him to come away with steals by playing passing lanes and converting in transition. Look for Shelby to make some noise in the grassroots season this summer and continue his high-momentum play.
