Tuesday night's district finals in Class 1A and 2A delivered some high-level games and plenty of notable performances. Here we'll take a look at some of the top performing wings and bigs from 1A action.

Note: There are a handful of teams without stats entered into Bound yet as of time of writing, and thus no players from these teams will be included: North Union, Belmond-Klemme, Nashua-Plainfield, Bedford, St. Edmond.

2026 PF [player_tooltip player_id='2413631' first='Jax' last='Pryor'] (Woodbine) – 15 points (7-15 FG, 1-2 FT), 16 rebounds (11 offensive), 1 steal [at St. Albert]

Woodbine went down to Council Bluffs and upset the Falcons, reaching the substate final for the third straight season. Pryor and the next player on this list were absolutely dominant on the glass, with Pryor pulling down 11 offensive boards. Obviously controlling the glass is huge in any basketball game, and that impact gets amplified in postseason play where each possession means so much more.

2027 SF [player_tooltip player_id='1977076' first='Landon' last='Blum'] (Woodbine) – 15 points (4-14 FG, 0-1 3P, 7-12 FT), 14 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals, 1 block [at St. Albert]

Blum didn't have a very efficient shooting night for the Tigers in the upset win, but like Pryor he was fantastic on the glass and was able to routinely get to the rim and the free-throw line to help him finish with his double-double. A long, athletic wing who can impact the game on the defensive end of the floor, he was a pest on that end of the floor as well against the Falcons.

2026 PF [player_tooltip player_id='2731754' first='Garret' last='Van Es'] (Boyden-Hull) – 23 points (11-15 FG, 1-1 3P), 17 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 4 blocks [vs. Gehlen Catholic]

Boyden-Hull cruised against an overmatched Gehlen team, with Van Es setting the tone with his dominance in the paint on both ends of the floor. A bouncy, long athlete with great hands, he was superb on the defensive end, efficient on the offensive end, and dominant on the glass.

2027 PF [player_tooltip player_id='2906526' first='Kale' last='Bailey'] (Hillcrest Academy) – 18 points (8-14 FG, 0-1 3P, 2-3 FT), 9 rebounds, 1 block [at Calamus-Wheatland]

The Ravens lost at two-point heartbreaker against Cal-Wheat, but Bailey was really good, scoring around the bucket efficiently and coming up just one board shy of a double-double. He has good hands, solid footwork, and soft touch around the bucket, and looks like he's primed to step into a starring role next season for Hillcrest.

2026 SF [player_tooltip player_id='1765521' first='Cal' last='Heydon'] (Coon Rapids-Bayard) – 29 points (11-17 FG, 2-4 3P, 5-5 FT), 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 5 steals, 1 block [vs. Audubon]

Heydon has long been one of the most productive players in 1A, and he was fantastic against the Wheelers, stuffing the stat sheet on both ends of the floor. At 6-4, he can score from anywhere, is a Swiss Army knife defensively, and can create for his teammates.

2026 PF Colton Wright (Martensdale-St Marys) – 18 points (7-17 FG, 0-2 3P, 4-6 FT), 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals, 1 block [at Madrid]

Wright and the rest of the Blue Devils had their hands full with the next player on this list, but he did a pretty good job on both ends of the floor, coming up with five stocks, leading the Devils in scoring, and showing that the offense can play through him with his vision and passing instincts.

2028 PF [player_tooltip player_id='2439640' first='Jevyn' last='Severson'] (Madrid) – 19 points (8-11 FG, 3-3 FT), 10 rebounds, 2 steals [vs. Martensdale-St Marys]

A four-star tight end prospect on the gridiron holding a ton of Division I offers, Severson is one of the biggest matchup problems in the state, and especially at the 1A level, because of his blend of size, strength, skill, and athleticism. He was extremely efficient against MStM, putting together a double-double that seems to be a nightly occurrence at this point. The defending champs have earned a chance to get back to the state tournament to defend their title, in large part because of how good this young man is.

2026 PF [player_tooltip player_id='2530470' first='KeShawn' last='DeShaw'] (Bellevue) – 14 points (5-8 FG, 1-1 3P, 3-5 FT), 10 rebounds, 1 assist [vs. Maquoketa Valley]

Maquoketa Valley didn't have an answer for the athletic big man in the paint, putting together an efficient double-double and controlling the painted area on both ends of the floor. While DeShaw didn't have a block, his presence in the paint with his length and athleticism certainly impacted the way the Wildcats could attack Bellevue.

2027 SF [player_tooltip player_id='2853953' first='Peyton' last='Amdor'] (Riverside) – 22 points (9-17 FG, 3-8 3P, 1-2 FT), 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal [at Bedford]

Riverside's magical run through postseason play continues, with the Bulldogs upsetting Bedford to get to the substate final behind this great play from the junior wing. He was able to space the floor and use the threat of his shot to open up his dribble-drive.

2026 SF [player_tooltip player_id='2520041' first='Matson' last='Winings'] (South Winneshiek) – 25 points (12-14 FG, 0-1 3P, 1-4 FT), 14 rebounds, 3 assists [at Wapsie Valley]

Winings was sensational in South Winn's upset win at Wapsie Valley, playing about as efficient a game as you can play. He was dominant on the glass against a bigger team, and his physicality and athleticism were on full display throughout, getting to the rim for finishes routinely.
