Multiple games were decided in just the last couple of minutes, and some primetime performers really left their marks on this tournament. Today, we will look at the final day of competition including the championship game, as well as giving you our All-Tournament Team picks.

Championship Game

Heritage Hall 72

Kingfisher 62

This game was tight for most of the evening. The Chargers started to extend their lead late in the game with some quality defense and transition play from both [player_tooltip player_id='2471098' first='Xzavier' last='Mbroh'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2140785' first='Porter' last='Gillispie']. Mbroh could not be stopped in the final quarter as he forced multiple turnovers and used his athleticism in transition to score at the rim. A [player_tooltip player_id='2140785' first='Porter' last='Gillispie'] 3-pointer extended the lead to 14 with just over 3 minutes remaining for Heritage Hall.

For Kingfisher, they showed a lot of positives in the loss. [player_tooltip player_id='1552314' first='Cash' last='Laird'] was extremely aggressive on the offensive end, getting fouled a pair of times in the paint after attacking closeouts and then hitting his free throws. At the defensive end, Laird showed active hands and played with great effort. His ability to guard multiple positions and play with poise will continue to help his squad as the season rolls on. [player_tooltip player_id='1552334' first='Hayes' last='White'] continued his streak of solid offensive performances, driving past players and showing great touch to finish over length at the rim.

3rd Place Game:

Jones 70

Chisholm 67

[player_tooltip player_id='2823611' first='Cooper' last='Westfahl'] was once again in his starring role for the Longhorns. Westfahl could seemingly not be stopped for large portions of this one as he was not only hitting his shot from the perimeter but also aggressively attacking the paint and keeping pressure on the defense. This game went back and forth in its entirety and showcased some realty good play on both ends of the court. The senior propelled his team to a 5-point halftime lead with 18 points. All his points in the first half came from deep as he hit six triples. Westfahl finished with 32 points in this one.

While Westfahl was the top scorer in this one, Jones was able to get the win in large part due to the efforts of both Acyn Hansen and Tristian Danker. The third quarter was huge for Jones as they were able to trim the lead down to a single point. Danker featured a sweet shooting jump shot to compliment an active game on defense. The defense would end up being key for his team, as they would only allow 25 points in the second half. The ability to mix up defenses and keep the ball in front was a major factor in the second half.

Player of the Game: Tristian Danker, Jones

All-Tournament Team

[player_tooltip player_id='2140723' first='Braelon' last='Bradshaw'], Heritage Hall – MVP Award

Bradshaw led the way for the Chargers and showed why he was the best player in the tournament. The junior was explosive around the goal throughout the tournament and helped control the glass for his team. His activity and defense helped lead to transition baskets as Heritage Hall shot the ball better than any other team. Offensively, he ran the floor well and finished above the rim frequently, while also finding teammates when defenses collapsed on him. Look for Bradshaw to continue to be a major factor for his team as they look for a strong postseason run. A key play in the title game was a Gillispie 3-pointer in which Braelon broke down the defense and found the shooter across the floor in the corner.

[player_tooltip player_id='2471098' first='Xzavier' last='Mbroh'], Heritage Hall

The most explosive player in the tournament. Mbroh used his quick hands and elite speed to force turnovers into transition points for his squad. His combination of perimeter defense and an attacking offensive game puts pressure on the opposition every time out. In the title game, the junior helped propel his team to victory with some key effort plays on both ends. Mbroh plays with energy and passion that continues to fuel his teammates on both ends.

[player_tooltip player_id='1552334' first='Hayes' last='White'], Kingfisher

Both Laird and White are worthy of All-Tournament Team selections. White gets the not for us though, due to his performance over all three games for the Yellowjackets. White is nearly unstoppable at times when he puts his head down and attacks the goal. Showcasing strength and poise, the senior attacks mismatches very well on the offensive end. Look for White to continue his strong play as of late, gaining experience against some really strong defenses in this field.

[player_tooltip player_id='2823611' first='Cooper' last='Westfahl'], Chisholm

The senior had a phenomenal tournament, including a 32-point performance in the semifinal loss to Kingfisher. Westfahl finished the tournament with the most 3-pointers made of the entire field. The end of game experience gained by Westfahl and his teammates will help them moving forward as the Longhorns had the ball with a chance to win in their final two tournament games. Although both were tough shots, Cooper understands the moment and wants the ball in these crucial spots.

Acyn Hansen, Jones

The junior was the most underrated player of the tournament. His ability to defend multiple positions and rebound will be huge for his team as the season progresses. Hansen showed an ability to attack the paint and draw fouls. Both Hansen and Tristian Danker combined for 29 points in the win over Chisholm. Jones will need balanced scoring efforts from these two if they want to continue to play well over the next few weeks.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140785' first='Porter' last='Gillispie'], Heritage Hall

The junior guard played a major role in this tournament for the Chargers. Gillispie not only shot the ball well from 3-point land, but he also hounded ball handlers on the defensive end, forcing a ton of turnovers over the three-game stretch. Gillispie also continues to show a growing ability to handle the ball and make decisions for his club. Look for him to continue to pile up assists complimenting his shot making from both inside and outside the arc.
