With Laird’s usual senior running mate sidelined, it was on his shoulders to carry the Yellowjackets. He did a good job of slicing to the basket and scoring with his crafty finishing package. Has a little more strength and quickness, which allows him to glide and still finish strongly. With Laird at the helm of a healthy Kingfisher, they’ll be a squad no team will want to face during the gauntlet that is the Class 4A playoffs.

Smooth scoring guard, who put on a show on the offensive end in the first half of a big Kingfisher win. Good pace and feel when getting into spots in the mid-range or gliding to the hoop. His height really helps him rise up and hit tough shots. Has been on a tear to start the year, putting up 26 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists in a victory last week. Gets a tough test on Friday with a date against tournament hosts Dale. But Laird as the lightning to burly senior Hays White’s thunder gives Kingfisher a chance to make an early season statement.
