St Thomas More vs West Central

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A highly anticipated matchup vs two top 5 teams in Class A took place last night and it did not disappoint. Fromt the very start of this game anyone in attendance or watching knew this was gonna be a tightly contested battle the whole way. West Central ranked #1 and undefeated at 9-0 took on St Thomas More the #4 ranked team with a record of 7-1. This game was tough, gritty and played with alot of heart by both teams. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Scoring in this game was very hard to come by and it was definitely earned as both teams 🔒 in defensively from the start. Both benches were as active as the players on the floor which brought even more intensity to this contest. Even without [player_tooltip player_id='2076018' first='Connor' last='Mebius'] west central had just enough scoring to get past st thomas tonight as other players such as [player_tooltip player_id='2132818' first='Hayden' last='Heier'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1919285' first='Will' last='Kuhl'] stepped up. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>First quarter and half both teams ran alot of realy good motion sets making the defense's guard alot of different looks/screens and post ups every time down the floor. Neither team could get anything going as far as transition offense so half court was the name of the game tonight. [player_tooltip player_id='2132818' first='Hayden' last='Heier'] was 🔥 in the first quarter nocking down two highly contested three's a lyup and one freethrow. Big man [player_tooltip player_id='1919285' first='Will' last='Kuhl'] stepped out and hit two first quarter three's and stayed aggressive the entire night. Wyatt Gylten and [player_tooltip player_id='2080607' first='Ashton' last='Paulsen'] did majority of the scoring for St Thomas. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Second half brought much of the same as the first with tough hard nose defense being the main ingredient. Back and forth both teams went neither team having a lead larger then 7 i beleive. Both teams showed how bad they wanted it and laid everything on the line for this game as they both stepped in and took several charges on the night, some major collisions happened but neither team blinked. Late in the game is where the difference was as West Central's execution was slightly better and more efficient then st thomas and made a couple layups and made some freethrows to seal the deal. </p>
