Eveyone knows Ashton can score but vs the spearfish spartans he had 28 points and quite honestly he made it look easy vs a very good and athletic defensive team. Everything was going in for him that night deep range three’s, attacking the basket with tough finishes (most of his shots never even hit rim that night as they were all pure!) He wasn’t just scoring that night though as he didn’t take the night off on the defensive end as he had a few steals and several rebounds to go along with his big scoring night.

-Showed deep range on two of his three’s, was definitely feeling it tonight not many of his shots even hit the rim
-Attacked basket and showed good finishing strength at the rim
-Explosive first step got to his spot on the floor almost at will tonight
-Showed a swagger on the offensive end tonight/knew he was in the zone
-Active defender moves feet very well and takes pride on that side of the floor

The South Dakota 2026 rankings update later this afternoon, and Paulsen only helped his stock at Prep Hoops Stomping Grounds. Although, he turns the ball over at times, I think he’s slowing himself down more and the turnovers are steadily decreasing. His scoring ability surprised me and he was able to get into the lane and showed a high-level midrange game.
