Seniors to Watch MIAA

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There are a ton of seniors in MIAA to write about but I haven't had the chance to watch them all play yet, hopefully I get the opportunity to catch them in the playoffs or if they do a prep/post grad year. The following players come from Melrose, Xaverian, Acton-Boxborough, Attleboro, Foxboro, Lexington, Everett. Each team has competed all year and still have a chance to make playoffs or will make a tournament run. Each player might not have been the best on the court that night but they played a role in impacting the game based on their performance. If you have the chance don't miss out on an opportunity to watch the following players because on any given night they can be the best on the court. He use to have just one move around the rim but now has a variety of go to counter punches. He gets downhill and scores after contact. He changes the tempo of his dribble, plays off two feet and made an important jump stop in the paint to avoid an offensive foul. He gets to his spots and finishes in a variety of ways in the paint. He has good footwork around the rim/perimeter. Was super active on the defensive perimeter second time I watched him. He is athletic and does a great job being either the go to player in the offense or second option. His coach really likes his style of play, so I was patient and witnessed his ability in the second half. He had good handles for a third option as a ball handler in Acton-Boxborough's offense. He had a couple nice catch/shoot 3 pointer situations he made. Jake was just as impressive with his interior passing and his ability to square his shoulder in mid air to the basket making jumpers in the mid-range part of his game. I loved his quick blitz in the low post area to knock the ball out of the opposing bigs hands. He elevates nicely especially over smaller guards when getting shots off. He made some nice entry passes to the low post. He changes his tempo on the dribble, making counter moves. He took the ball coast to coast on a couple of plays. Dez gets a handful of tallies in each category of the stat sheet. He has been consistent in each game (4) I have seen him play. He is drawing interest from D3 schools, which include UMASS Dartmouth, Wheaton, Curry. He will be a good addition to any D3 school he chooses. He has good vision racking up the assists. He gets plenty of paint touches with good finishes around the rim. He has the ability to get a double double on any night. He is athletic, strong giving him second chances at rebounds and elevating over players. He communicates on the defensive end while tagging opponents. A great rim runner which allows his team to space the floor and get high percentage looks at the basket. He gets shots off easily with good college bounce on his jump shot, releasing the ball high. Sam knocked down shots tonight against Arlington from college range. A few ways he was able to get shots off were off the bounce in the mid-range areas, side step defenders of the bounce from deep. He ran in transition well to get easy layup opportunities. Sam isn't just a shooter he handled the ball very well and can stop on a dime to change direction. Most of his shots came in the mid-range areas but he can stretch the floor. He had a pretty mid-range off a curl at the nail and left wing fadeaway that he knocked down. Tagging players on the box out were important for his teams success but he had a great momentum shifter pick pocket on Brookline's best ball handler. I would love the opportunity to watch Christian play again, as I believe with the perfect coach he can play at the next level which would be D3/JUCO. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
