The OHSAA basketball season is about halfway complete, with many teams playing about 11 of their scheduled 22 regular season contests. In this article we'll take a look at our updated Division VII rankings from January 8th.

1. Delphos St John's (10-0)

The clear top team in the division, the Blue Jays recently have blown out top area teams in Maumee Valley Country Day and Lima Shawnee.

2. Botkins (8-1)

Despite getting doubled up by Marion Local this week, Botkins stays at number two due to a handful of quality wins against a tough schedule.

3. Miller City (10-1)

Their lone loss came to Division VI power Maumee Valley Country Day and they have some big games on the horizon.

4. Medina Christian Academy (7-2)

Medina Christian Academy went 2-1 on a holiday trip to Florida, showing they can hang with out of state competition.

5. Fairport Harding (8-0)

Only one game all season has been within 20 points, that's a dominant start to their season.

6. Genoa Christian (5-4)

A recent 11 point loss to Division III program Mansfield Senior shows that Genoa Christian can hang with the bigger schools, they are still waiting for their first marquee win of the season but have the talent to make a run in March.

7. Cedarville (8-1)

Cedarville escaped with a one point win over West Liberty Salem recently, staying at only one loss keeps them in our top 10.

8. Montpellier (9-1)

A recent 15 point win over Bryan shows that Montpellier is rolling right now as their schedule gets a little harder as we progress through January, that gives them signature win opportunities to try and move up the rankings.

9. Sidney Lehman Catholic (11-0)

Despite being 11-0, Lehman Catholic is down at number 9 because they don't have a single win over a team with a winning record. You play who is on your schedule and they've won every game but I want to see them beat a winning program before moving them much higher.

10. McDonald (10-0)

A win over 5-3 Girard by double digits sees McDonald enter the top 10 as one of five unbeatens in Division VII right now.

Watchlist (By Region)

Sandusky St Mary (6-0)

Heartland Christian (10-1)

Newark Catholic (6-2)

Malvern (7-3)

River (8-1)

Racine Southern (6-2)

Minster (6-4)

Franklin Monroe (7-2)
