While you lock that in, we're shifting our focus to one of the strongest classes in the state — a group that's primed for major movement over the next few years. Hot starts have launched new names into the spotlight, while others are still building toward their breakthrough. This class is far from settled, and the board is already shifting. Here are some new names in the 2028 rankings.

Silver Creek has a pretty strong group of upperclassmen, which has them undefeated on the season. They're disciplined, they play the right way, and they compete on both ends. They also have a bright spot in sophomore wing, Grayson. He's putting up 6.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2 assists a game. Grayson is physical and a force down low. He attacks the paint, has a mid-range game, and takes what the defense is giving him. He's a solid rebounder who attacks the glass and gets a few easy scoring opportunities off of that. He is also a willing passer who hits the open man when the opportunity is there. He was a player not really on our radar, but with how he's contributed on a stacked squad with aspirations of winning it all, he's a player who we're keeping eyes on and putting in the rankings.

Palmer is one of the few teams in the state led by underclassmen and one of those young ballers is this sophomore guard. He is the team's athletic change-of-pace player. He controls tempo, pushes the ball down the floor, and is always looking to make a big play. We've seen a few standout games for him to start the season, where he was able to impact the game due to his activity. He gets into the teeth of the defense, he finds the open man, and he can play as the combo guard with the other backcourt players they have around him. He's a player we are still curious about, but makes our rankings for the first time with his play to begin the season.

The sophomore class they got over at Mead is a fun one, full of talented prospects that are getting the experience needed to make a push for it next year or year after. They have solid guards and players who know what is expected of them. A player who has starred in his role is athletic wing, Stapp. Stapp has been the team's catalyst early on. He delivers physicality and finishes high-energy plays. He goes all out on rebounds and keeps plays alive and is willing to do the dirty work for the team. He's also a paint protector for the team. He's putting up 6.1 rebounds and 2.4 blocks a game, and I expect him to have a big second half of the season as Mead tries to get the season on the right foot. He jumps on the rankings as a new name to know.

Jimenez is a sophomore who jumped on the radar for the first half of the season due to his ability to fill up the box sheet. If the game asked for scoring, he delivered, but he also showed that he's a two-way option. He's a player who comes away with steals, stays in front of his man, and that play is contagious. He is also a guard who tries to get teammates involved and looks to make plays happen when he has the ball in his hands. He's averaging 7.2 points, 2.8 assists, and recording 2 steals per game. His team will need him to be more involved as they make a push to turn things around for the season, but he's a player who jumped on the scene and into the rankings with his play.

Mason has been a bit of a game-changer for Ponderosa, who gets in the game and tries to impact it with his activity and ability to do it all. He scores, rebounds, shoots, and has provided a spark by filling in where needed. He's a glue guy who has his moments. He had a game where he finished with 12 points on efficient shooting, and others where he barely shot and focused on rebounding and defense, and those are habits you build that earn you extra minutes. This is his first time making the rankings, and he is a player who can improve with consistency.
