The Case for the Rams

Led by a trio of seniors that return from last season's run to the state tournament in Des Moines, Dubuque Senior is a top-heavy squad with three upper classmen leading the way.

For the Rams it all starts and ends with forward, [player_tooltip player_id='1172887' first='Tevin' last='Schultz'], who has been a regular starter in Dubuque since his freshman campaign. A double-digit scorer all four years on varsity, it would only make sense for the senior to lead his squad back to Des Moines in his final year of high school ball. A skilled big that would make any team better, Schultz is an efficient scorer that doesn't waste movement or time on the court. Shooting a rabid 68.3% from the floor and 47.2% from three, the 6-foot-7 senior is the No. 3 scorer in 4A, averaging 24.3 points per game (PPG).

Number two in the trio is [player_tooltip player_id='1765536' first='Cooper' last='Porter'], a 6-foot guard who is one of five Rams that is shooting above 40% from three so far this season. The leader from beyond the arc, Porter leads his team in three-pointers made so far this year, knocking down a ridiculous 40-of-88 (47.2%) from deep, making the spacing super effective for players like Schultz to go to work and score in the paint, and averaging 12.4 PPG. Porter has also posted a wild assist-to-turnover ratio of 5.92, an almost silly number that is incredibly efficient. The lead guard for the Rams, his play so far this season has been perfectly complimentary to Schultz.

The third in the three-headed monster of double-digit scorers is [player_tooltip player_id='1765555' first='Drake' last='Medinger'], who is averaging 15.6 PPG, is just another player opposing defenses have to account for. Making the second-most three-pointers on the squad by shooting 32-of-78 (41%) from deep. He's also second on the team in rebounds, averaging 4.5 per game.

Dubuque won't be one of the top two favorites to win the title in 4A, but the Rams have the experience and the talent to compete with just about anyone in the state, and if the above trio gets hot, they can beat almost every team.
