MESA, Ariz. — Hoophall West brought some of the country's top traditional high schools, prep schools and EYBL Scholastic programs to Skyline high school in Arizona last weekend. We were in attendance for two days of the three day event and below we break down the best wings and forwards we watched in the Traditional high school bracket and Round Robin action.

Amare James | 2026 | Wheeler (GA)

The Clemson-commit bounced back from a tough game Friday and scored 16 points, including 3-for-7 from three in a championship loss to Sunnyslope. The 6-foot-5 wing is a springy vertical athlete whose ability to slash and finish at the rim in transition and half-court offense is his main source of offensive impact but the senior also showed that he can stretch the floor off the catch with a smooth corner three-ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='2131779' first='Brandon' last='McCoy'], Jr. | 2026 | Sierra Canyon (CA)

McCoy remains one of the nation's top unsigned senior prospects and his combination of explosive vertical athleticism and physicality on drives and finishes was too much for St. Mary's of Arizona to handle. McCoy scored 18 points on 6-for-10 from the field and 2-for-4 from three and eight rebounds in a blow out win and it's clear his move to Sierra Canyon from Bosco has worked out well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1956471' first='Brannon' last='Martinsen'] | 2026 | Sierra Canyon (CA)

Martinsen is one of the most skilled forwards left on the board out west and his offensive versatility was a matchup nightmare for St. Mary's. The 6-foot-6 wing/forward has a dribble, pass and shoot skill-set with the ability to beat defenders off the bounce and score at the rim or get fouled where he shoots freebies at a high clip. Martinsen had 17 points on 5-for-10 from the field and 7-for-10 from the free throw line.

[player_tooltip player_id='2131780' first='Christian' last='Collins'] | 2026 | St. John Bosco (CA)

Collins was dominant in Bosco's win over Basha of Arizona as he scored 31 points on 12-for-23 from the field. The long, wiry and NBA-level athlete used his combination of a 6-foot-8 frame and ability to create off the bounce to dribble into rhythm jumpers, slash his way to the rim for high percentage finishes and stretch the floor to the three-point line with consistency. Collins is one of the nation's top unsigned seniors and is likely an immediate and high impact guy at the next level.

Daniel Abass | 2027 | DeMatha (MD)

Abass is a broad-shouldered and big bodied four-man who has plenty of skill to go along with his physical frame. The 6-foot-7 forward can stretch the floor to the three-point line off the catch in spot-up and trail situations and has the ability to attack the rim and score through contact on straight-line drives. The junior had 15 points and six assists in a semifinal loss to Sunnyslope and 12 points and seven rebounds in a loss to Millennium.

[player_tooltip player_id='1555179' first='Darius' last='Wabbington'] | 2027 | Sunnyslope (AZ)

Wabbington has become a priority target for high major programs across the country because of his skill-set at his size. The 6-foot-10 center is a patient post scorer and creator who has soft touch with either hand around the rim and can diagnose and pass out of double teams to open shooters and cutters. Where Wabbington separates himself from other bigs in the class is his ability to knock down face-up shots out to the three-point line. The junior finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds in a semifinal win over DeMatha and 23 points, nine rebounds and three assists in a championship win over Wheeler.

[player_tooltip player_id='2425654' first='Max' last='Ellis'] | 2026 | St. John Bosco (CA)

Ellis showed how valuable he is to Bosco's success in its win over Basha Saturday night. The 6-foot-5 wing is a knockdown shooter off the catch with time and space and he had plenty of that en route to 22 points including 5-for-7 from three and 7-for-7 from the free throw line. The unsigned senior stays true to his strengths and doesn't try to do things outside his comfort zone which leads to him being an efficient scorer.

[player_tooltip player_id='1482165' first='Rider' last='Portela'] | 2026 | Sunnyslope (AZ)

Portela is a jack-of-all-trades type of prospect whose impact on winning cannot be understated. The 6-foot-5 wing is a high level slasher and finisher in transition and half-court offense, attacks the rim with aggression and confidence, and can attack closeouts for straight-line drive finishes. The Colorado-bound senior had 15 points, four rebounds and four steals in a semifinal win over DeMatha and 14 points in a championship win over Wheeler.

Tyran Stokes | 2026 | Rainier Beach (WA)

Stokes is widely considered as the top overall prospect in the 2026 class and, though there were a few bumps in the road during this game, he showed plenty of flashes of his skilled and athletic offensive package. The former California product (Prolific Prep and Sherman Oaks Notre Dame) finished with 26 points, 11 rebounds and six assists in a win over Mater Dei with his points coming in every way imaginable.

Zain Majeed | 2027 | Mater Dei (CA)

Majeed is a much needed addition to the Mater Dei roster as his combination of size and an inside-out offensive skill-set was one of the most glaring weaknesses of the Monarchs' roster prior to the CIF Southern Section transfer sit out period. Majeed is a burly 6-foot-7 forward who can stretch the floor to the three-point line, hit face-up mid-range jumpers and drive to his left hand, initiate and finish through contact around the basket. Majeed scored 28 points and grabbed eight rebounds in a loss to Rainier Beach.
