The flashes were there at this time a year ago, but Malukila has enjoyed a proper breakout as a sophomore, furthered by an 18-point, 10-rebound, 5-block performance on Tuesday night during which he controlled the paint on both ends throughout the contest. Consistently facing physical defense and aggressive denials all night, Malukila did a great job of staying move and presenting a steady target for his guards, showing soft hands and touch on a series of swift finishes near the rim. He made quick decisions to keep the ball moving and flashed his shooting stroke on a top-of-the-key 3 to get himself going. Defensively, he put a seal on the rim for extended stretches and did well to step up early to corral opposing drivers. It was a well-rounded performance that gave a clear look at why high-major programs have begun monitoring the Congolese big man already.

One of the more productive freshmen statewide, Dozier took a backseat at times scoring-wise but impressed with his poise, early physical indicators, and well-rounded two-way skillset. He got PVI on the board with a smooth relocation 3 off a kickout from Malukila, bookending the scoring with another 3 from the corner to close the game while displaying a smooth and compact high-release stroke. Throughout the meat of the game, he thrived as a playmaker for others, showing an advanced sense for advancing the ball with the pass and making the simple play in a timely fashion. He flashed a smooth skillset off the bounce as well, showing mature pace while probing in the pick-and-roll game and finishing cleanly with either hand. Defensively, he used his length and quick feet to be a steady pest at the point of attack. The future appears to be bright for Dozier, who looks to be on a clear D1 track at this early juncture.

Bieg has been off to a scorching start to the season, averaging north of 20 points per game and recently surpassing 1,000 for his career. He was held a bit in check by PVI's swarming defense, but nonetheless managed to impress throughout a tough 15-point effort. The senior guard knocked down a pair of 3s in the first quarter, showing deep range off the catch, before sandwiching a midrange stop-and-pop and a 3-point pullup around either end of the halftime buzzer to cut the PVI lead to just a point. Bieg showed toughness in the floor game with persistently controlled aggression attacking off the bounce and making sound reads in the paint off two feet. He showed why he should be a priority for small-college programs valuing toughness, savvy, and shotmaking in the backcourt.

Emerging as a consistent scoring threat on the perimeter after flashing throughout his freshman year, Thatcher took a bit to get going on Tuesday but stepped up with a big second half to help give the Eagles some separation. Known as a premier long-range threat, he had a hard time finding space in a scoreless first half but got himself going with a key thrid quarter sequence that included a catch-and-shoot 3, a smooth one-dribble pullup, and an aggressive take to the rim in transition. Thatcher went on to show that he can attack the rim in the halfcourt when run off the line, finishing with 11 points all after halftime to break open a one-possession game. He'll have a good chance to put himself on track for a scholarship if he can continue rounding out his game to make a greater impact when his shot's not falling.

Another of the state's more productive and consistent freshmen, Lacey has been in double figures in all but two games thus far to start his high school career. He took a bit to ease into the game during his first trip to PVI, but ultimately settled in on his way to 14 points. Lacey shows a smooth shooting stroke with deep range, knocking down a trio of 3s to help stretch the Eagle defense. He's skilled attacking off the bounce as well, particularly showcasing a strong left hand as a ballhandler and finisher. He'll have to study the film from this one to see moments where he could be more poised against opposing length, but Lacey looks to be next up in an Irish program that's become accustomed to pumping out collegiate guards over the years.

One of five starters in double-figures for the Eagles, Spross posed a steady threat both on and off the ball playing off of Malukila as a senior leader for a mostly younger PVI rotation. He established himself early with a smooth sidestep 3 from the corner before hitting another later on off the catch from nearly the same spot. Spross showed poise off the bounce in search of his floater and also impressed with his ability to extend out his ball pressure on the defensive end of the floor. Having previously been the go-to guy for years at St. Joe's Hammonton, it was nice to see his ability to fit in as a piece of a larger machine with the talent around him at PVI, giving a clearer window into his projected role at the scholarship level.

Coming along quickly as a reliable threat after scoring just two points his entire freshman year, Donaldson impressed with 14 points in an efficient complementary role. He stands out immediately with a muscular frame for a guard his age while also showing quick feet and smooth athleticism. He's a strong straight-line driver when attacking from the wing and can also function as a secondary ballhandler for stretches when needed. He showed in the second half that he's a capable spacer off the catch, knocking down a pair of key 3s to help keep the Irish in the game. We'll be tracking Donaldson closely moving forward as he has a chance to emerge as a scholarship-level option down the line.
