It was tough losing his junior year due to injury. But Miles Novy-Hildesley Miles Novy-Hildesley Miles Novy-Hildesley 6'7" | PF Lincoln | 2026 State OR didn't just sit around - he went to work. He did what he could with his body and skills as he recovered during the school year, then when he got healthy he competed in club ball with Players Only . It's all paid off as the 6-foot-6 Lincoln senior is having an outstanding start with the Cardinals on the basketball floor and he couldn't be happier.

"It's my favorite thing in the world to do so it's been amazing and super fun to play with people I've known for 12 years, so it's definitely been a highlight for sure," Novy-Hildesley said. "One thing I really focused on with my shoulder when I was out for that year was just getting as athletic as I could as obviously, I couldn't really shoot the ball with a broken right shoulder. So it's definitely fun to see that work paying off when I really wasn't able to play for a year."

Novy-Hildesley has been dominant for the Cardinals. He's been a force with his athleticism and strength in the paint and two-handed slams have been a regular occurrence. He not just posting up and dunking as Novy-Hildesley has been able to face up and hit some mid-range jumpers, create off the dribble and finish with either hand around the hoop. These are skills he's looking at taking to the next level, where he recently announced he'll be continuing his academic and athletic career at MIT.

"I reached out to them probably mid-to-late spring last year and just had a really great relationship with the coach, and then the coaching staff actually ended up changing and have a great relationship with the new coach as well," Novy-Hildesley said. "I'm more than excited to go there. It's always been my dream to play basketball at a school where I'm also getting the best possible academics I can, and I really feel like it's something that I was able to make happen with all the support from my family, from all the coaching staffs that have helped me. That's definitely been a dream come true."

Novy-Hildesley, a brilliant student with a sizzling 1530 SAT score, had been getting recruited by several high-academic D-III schools but after visiting the MIT campus and getting offered early admission, it was a slam dunk choice.

"I have been out to Boston and it's definitely a super fun place," Novy-Hildesley said. "And just getting to meet the team, like they all seemed like a group of great guys and playing with them, I had a great time. It seemed like a really competitive atmosphere, both on and off the court, and that was something I really appreciated. It just seemed like somewhere where I'd be pushed both in basketball and academically to just get better in both areas."

Novy-Hildesley isn't quite sure what he will major in quite yet, but is looking forward to the opportunity to get on campus to take a bunch of classes and figure out his academic path from there. Until then he's got the rest of a senior season to play, one in which he's not only hoping to parlay his 20+ points per game average into his goal of being PIL Player of the Year, but also achieve some team success.

"I think we have a ton of potential," Novy-Hildesley said. "We just had a long, long players-only team meeting and I just feel like it's important that we turn things around and take advantage of what we are good at and also just really try and focus more on having productive practices and having that show in games. I think we've been a little sporadic, so trying to focus on that will be helpful."

"We really have a chance to win the PIL," he continued. "We haven't showed that yet in our league games but that's something I believe and I know the team believes as well."

Our congratulations go out to Novy-Hildesley and his family on his decision. He currently ranks as the #41 player in the Class of 2026 rankings.
