Written by Scout Riley Highfill

The 804 continues to prove why it's one of the most talent-rich basketball areas in Virginia. Every night, players are stepping into big moments. They produce against quality competition. They show traits that translate well beyond the high school level. These recent standouts exhibit college potential. They also show versatility on both ends of the floor with their shot-making and college-ready defensive abilities. These abilities are putting college coaches on notice. Here's a deeper look at several 804 prospects. These players have elevated their play. They are trending firmly in the right direction.

[player_tooltip player_id='2624544' first='Chris' last='Lamm'] has long been respected in the area. At this point, his name should be etched firmly on every serious college coach's radar. A true floor general, Lamm combines toughness, feel, and competitiveness in a way that consistently lifts his team. He's the engine behind a gritty and disciplined Benedictine group, and his leadership shows just as much as his production.

In Benedictine's win over New Town at the Hoops for Harmony tournament, Lamm delivered on a big stage. He finished with 16 points and 7 assists. He controlled the flow of the game from start to finish. He's exceptional at changing pace, manipulating defenders in ball-screen action, and getting downhill without forcing the issue. What separates him is his ability to play through contact. He still makes the right read, whether that's finishing at the rim or spraying the ball out to shooters. Lamm stands just 6'0, but he plays with toughness and confidence. Opposing defenses struggle to disrupt him, even when throwing multiple looks his way. He's a college-level point guard in every sense of the word.

Chris Tabb transferred to Grace Christian Academy. He has quickly established himself as one of the most dangerous scoring guards in the 804. Tabb is a smooth left-handed guard with advanced shot-making ability. He can hurt defenses from all three levels. He does so with confidence and efficiency.

What stands out most is how effortless his scoring looks. Tabb excels at pulling up from deep. He can create separation in the midrange. He also finishes through traffic effectively. Tabb has a complete offensive package. He's a lethal shooter when his feet are set. He is just as comfortable creating off the bounce when defenses press up on him. Still only a 2027, his consistency this season suggests a major jump in his recruitment. This is especially true as college coaches project his scoring ability and physical tools to the next level. He's a guard; defenses must game-plan for every night.

[player_tooltip player_id='2931604' first='Isaiah' last='Elkins'] continues to prove that impact doesn't always come with hype. Elkins is a crafty and athletic guard. He has been a vital piece for a strong Hanover team. He has steadily grown into his role as a reliable scoring and decision-making presence in the backcourt. His recent performance against rival Atlee was impressive. He scored a career-high 25 points with four three-pointers. It was a clear statement of his offensive upside.

Elkins excels at attacking off the bounce while still being a threat from the perimeter. He plays with a high basketball IQ, understands pace, and consistently makes the right reads within the offense. We have tracked his development since his freshman year. The growth is evident. Early on, there were flashes of potential. Now, he is a composed, confident guard who understands winning basketball. Playing alongside [player_tooltip player_id='2898028' first='Joel' last='Nicholson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2618817' first='Arrie' last='McWilliams'], Elkins fits seamlessly into one of the better backcourts in the area. Under Coach Rice, Hanover's guard play has been a major reason for their competitiveness. Elkins significantly contributes to that success.

[player_tooltip player_id='2618817' first='Arrie' last='McWilliams'] is exactly the type of player college coaches love to evaluate. He is efficient. He is confident, and he is impactful without needing constant touches. McWilliams is a senior leader for Hanover. He had a strong summer with Team [program_tooltip program_id='2416185' first='Loaded' last='804']. He has turned it into an excellent high school campaign. He has emerged as one of the most reliable shooters in the 804.

He's a true knockdown threat from behind the arc. Once he sees a couple go down, defenses quickly find themselves in scramble mode. McWilliams is especially valuable because he can score within the flow. He runs the floor hard in transition. He relocates on the perimeter well, and he punishes teams that overhelp. Opponents have made him a focal point of their scouting reports, yet he continues to find ways to produce. His profile as a 3-and-D guard who understands spacing and team concepts translates cleanly to the college game.

Few players in the 804 have seen their stock rise as quickly as [player_tooltip player_id='3275771' first='Jovin' last='Johnson']. At 6'7, Johnson brings a versatile, athletic skill set that impacts the game on both ends. He's active in passing lanes. He plays above the rim. He uses his physical tools to be a consistent presence on the glass.

Offensively, Johnson continues to expand his game. He finishes well inside. He has also shown the ability to step out and knock down open jumpers. This includes a 4-for-5 performance from three against Clover Hill. In Glen Allen's win over Deep Run, he posted 17 points. He also grabbed 11 rebounds. This was one of several double-double performances this season. His combination of size, effort, and improving perimeter shooting makes him a long-term prospect. College coaches will keep a close eye on him as he continues to develop.

Chris Harris is one of the most underrated young guards in the area. His impact on a quality Midlothian team is hard to overlook. Harris is a downhill-oriented guard with excellent feel. He consistently puts pressure on defenses. His ability to attack gaps and finish through contact is remarkable.

He plays with great pace, mixes speeds effectively, and shows comfort creating shots for both himself and his teammates. His jump shot continues to improve. This makes him tougher to contain. Defenders are forced to respect his scoring at multiple levels. On the defensive end, Harris stands out as one of the better on-ball defenders in the Dominion District. He sets the tone with his competitiveness. As he continues to mature, he's a prospect worth tracking closely for the future.

The common thread among these 804 standouts is substance. Each brings traits that translate beyond the high school game — whether it's leadership, shot-making, versatility, or feel. As the season progresses, recruiting will ramp up. This will happen heading into spring and summer. Expect these names to keep surfacing in college conversations. The 804 isn't just producing talent. It's also producing players who understand how to win. They know what it takes to compete at the next level.
