The Canyon Del Oro Dorados and the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks campuses are separated by just a few miles. This is one of the more exciting rivalries in Southern Arizona. This was a fun game to watch with the level of excitement both teams brought in. Below are the standouts from the game.

The athletic wing continues to raise his stock. Yarmolovich got the excitement going early in the first with a nice finish above the rim. A dominant defender in the paint who made it difficult for the Dorados offense to score. Very active without the ball, knows how to move effectively around the floor. Very effective rebounder. has the ability to dribble the ball the length of the floor and score at the rim. Sees the floor well. Doesn't settle for a bad shot and does a great job finding his teammates. Yarmolovich is one of the under recruited wings here in Southern AZ.

Overton proved to be the difference maker in the game. Started out with five points in the first quarter and two in the second. In the second half Overton couldn't be stopped. He erupted for twelve points in the third quarter and seven in the fourth. Overton didn't miss as he shot 100 percent in the second half. A very tough guard who got to the basket finishing well through contact. Shifted the momentum back to the Nighthawks anytime the Dorados tried sparking a comeback. Strong on ball defender. Made plays on both sides all game.

Briones was arguably the best defender on the court for either team tonight. Moves very well laterally and is strong. Came up with many steals including one to seal the game for the Nighthawks and forced many bad passes. A hustle player, was diving for the loose balls and securing the 50/50s. Had great defensive awareness. A guard that does the "dirty work" and does it with a passion. Impacted the game heavily with his defensive performance. Made great passes that lead to scoring opportunities for the Nighthawks.

Robles is a very dynamic player. He was the most impactful player tonight for the Dorados. He lead the Dorados in scoring and rebounding tonight. He finished the game with 18 points and 8 rebounds (unofficially) including knocking down three 3 pointers. Robles plays with high energy and hustles to make plays for his team. Crashes the boards very well for his position. Has a very quick and effective three ball. Shoots with confidence. Robles continues to be one of my favorite players to watch due to his passion and his ability to find ways to impact the game.

Skorupa is an intriguing guard prospect. He has very good footwork and knows how to be an effective scorer. He has a strong dribble and knows how to use his stride to get by defenders. He elevates high for his jump shot which make is difficult for his opponents to defend it. Skorupa was consistently making difficult shots throughout the game. Defended well all game and crashed the boards effectively. Plays the game with a strong motor and is fearless. Attacks with confidence.

Anderson is making strides in his development. We know and have seen how effective he can be scoring from the perimeter. Tonight he showed another part of his game. He showed off his high percentage mid range and his ability to work past his defender and get an inside shot. He was crashing the boards tonight. one of the better rebounding performances I've seen from Anderson. He finished with 13 points and 9 rebounds, helping the Nighthawks get a strong win over a long time rival.
