My second SCISA stop of the week took me to Manning, South Carolina, where the Laurence Manning Academy Swampcats played host to the Wilson Hall Barons in a Class 3A Region 4 matchup. LMA controlled the game from the opening tip and moved to 13-3 overall while Wilson Hall dropped to 10-10, but there were still plenty of bright spots to evaluate from these five prospects:

[player_tooltip player_id='2376083' first='Wesley' last='Lyles'] was terrific in his first matchup against region rival Wilson Hall, going for 20 points in a comfortable win. Lyles was very effective on both ends of the floor, holding the Barons' top player to a below-average game while also using his size to score at will. Wesley was at his best when spotting up in the corners, where he had success driving baseline to finish at the rim, floating middle to his spots in the mid-range, or simply catching-and-shooting from behind the arc. He also tallied 3 steals and 2 blocks to cement an impressive all-around night.

Zy put on a masterful display from his Point Guard position tonight. It looked like he knew exactly what he wanted to do on every offensive possession, whether it was a drive-and-kick to the perimeter, an interior pass to a big, or even a self-created bucket. Dennis struggled a little bit with opposing ball pressure near the timeline, but once he crossed it and began to attack, the Barons were unable to find a consistent answer to the questions his penetration posed. Dennis finished with 10 points and 9 assists in the win.

One of the under-the-radar standouts from Laurence Manning's 55-33 win was Sanders. Ben is the guy who mans the middle for the Swampcats, and he does so with a big body and an active play style. He was a weapon on the offensive and defensive glass, hauling in 8 boards without a ton of minutes. Sanders also chipped in with a block, a pair of interior finishes, and a 1-2 trip to the free-throw line. If LMA is to make a deep run in the SCISA State Playoffs, they will need this type of performance and more from Ben on a consistent basis.

Flipping over to the Wilson Hall side of things, there were still some positive attributes to see from [player_tooltip player_id='1242285' first='Ford' last='Wilder'] despite it not being his best night. The multi-sport athlete recently crossed over the 1,000-point milestone for his career, and tonight he put up a game-high 21 points. He was by far the Barons' most dangerous offensive threat because of his size, athleticism, and shooting ability. Wilder knocked down three threes in this one, but there was also a clear emphasis on getting him touches close to the basket, especially when the team went through droughts.

Williamson may not have been the biggest eye-catcher on the stat sheet, only putting up 3 assists and 2 steals, but when the Barons had good stretches, he was in the middle of it. Caulder is your prototypical scrappy, undersized guard who will apply heavy ball pressure with quick feet and active hands. Williamson is a capable passer, but he will have to fully grasp the balance of scoring and facilitating in order to best run an offense.
