Mater Dei Knights' [player_tooltip player_id='1552416' first='Gavin' last='Peppenhorst'] (#5) nearly took down the Belleville East Lancers. Peppenhorst has an impressive shot and led the team in points. The guard also showed tenacity, driving to the basket, passing to an open teammate, or drawing a foul. Peppenhorst demonstrated what it means to be a quiet leader.

Kenny Wilson (#12) of the Lancers helped the team secure a narrow victory with at least four three-pointers, three of which were made on his first three shots. While Wilson proves to be reliable from behind the arc, he still appears to be developing his ability to finish at the rim.

Belleville East's [player_tooltip player_id='2749984' first='James' last='Johnson'] (#23) excels at transitioning from defense to offense and the opposite. He reads the play well and uses his speed and reach to intercept passes. Johnson's shooting has also been improving each game, and his in-game decisions are still developing.

[player_tooltip player_id='2962299' first='O'Bryant' last='Brown'] (#1) was a quiet leader during the game on Friday night as the Alton Redbirds topped the Belleville West Maroons. Brown was most impactful on defense, reading cross-court passes, forcing turnovers, and pushing the pace up the court. Offensively, he has a smooth jumper and is a dependable shooter who can occasionally hit a three.

Alton Redbirds' [player_tooltip player_id='2540188' first='Ryan' last='Howard'] (#3) continues to impress game by game. He has an elusive long-range shot, matching his final-year teammate [player_tooltip player_id='2376270' first='Semaj' last='Stampley']. Howard, who has a slight size advantage, uses his body to get inside and attack the boards as well. I am eager to see how Howard reacts to taking the reins in 2027.
