Shadow Ridge jumped out to an early lead thanks to their guard play. Including [player_tooltip player_id='2673903' first='Troy' last='Fields'], who scored 5 first quarter points for the Mustangs.

The Green Valley Gators offense also got off to a semi-slow start, and they found themselves down 14-7 going into the second quarter.

Then they woke up a bit, and began to be more aggressive. Guards: [player_tooltip player_id='1965090' first='Brosnen' last='Gilmore'], [player_tooltip player_id='2672487' first='Lamarcus' last='Carter'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1965086' first='Ethan' last='Keith'] all got in more of a groove. And the game became much more competitive.

However The Mustangs offense did continue to find the holes in the defense, and guys like Marcus Jennings and Alex Williams produced a couple of buckets for them

At halftime, the score was 29-24, Shadow Ridge.

The 3rd quarter was by far the most entertaining portion of the game, as each team was hitting their shots.

Shadow Ridge guard, [player_tooltip player_id='2635516' first='Jaden' last='Williams'] truly went off and scored one basket after another. Including a couple of takes to the rim where he also drew contact and got the line. Plus a 3-pointer. By the end of the quarter, he had dropped in 15 points single handidly.

But the trio of Gator guards, Gilmore, Keith, and Carter all responded with baskets of their own. Especially, [player_tooltip player_id='1965086' first='Ethan' last='Keith'] who caught fire from the perimeter. And he was attacking the basket as well.

After 3 quarters, it was extremely close. And the score was 53-51, Shadow Ridge.

At the the, time it felt like it could be either team's game.

Then in the fourth quarter, [player_tooltip player_id='2635516' first='Jaden' last='Williams'] & co. continued to be assertive on offense. Which led to them getting to the free throw line quite a lot, where they capitalized on their opportunities.

Their full court pressure defense also gave the Gators some issues, and they scored a number of baskets after steals.

But the Gators hung in there until thee end. And Gilmore, Keith, and Carter all kept firing.

However the Mustangs created just enough separation to hold them off. And Jacob Henrikson connected on 4 free throws in the last couple of minutes to seal the deal.

All in all, it was a quality 4A matchup that featured a ton of talented juniors.

[player_tooltip player_id='2635516' first='Jaden' last='Williams'] had a superb game for the Shadow Ridge Mustangs. He had the defense on their heels in the 3rd quarter, and essentially took over the game. I was a fan of how assertive he was and how he utilized his craftiness to get to his spots. Williams also made an impact on defense with his athleticism. Expect him to make even more noise this season, as he's tough to slow down.

[player_tooltip player_id='1965087' first='Marcus' last='Jennings Jr']. was both a scorer and a distributor last night. He splashed in a 3-pointer and did some damage in the paint. While also making accurate passes that led to easy buckets for his teammates. I also liked the intensity that he played with and how he communicated on defense. Overall, he played well and he'll be a 2027 forward to follow this year.

[player_tooltip player_id='2673903' first='Troy' last='Fields'] caught my attention with his high level shooting. He stretched the floor for the Mustangs by knocking down a couple of 3-pointers, and he also made a smart cut that led to an easy layup. If he continues to play with that level of confidence and awareness, he'll likely put up some decent stats this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1965086' first='Ethan' last='Keith'] is a gamer who can change the momentum in the blink of an eye with his scoring ability. He hunts shots like a true marksmen does, and knocked down 4 triples last night. Keith also utilized change of pace to get the rim and dropped in a couple of difficult finishes. While the Gators didn't get the win, it was a top notch performance from the junior.

[player_tooltip player_id='1965090' first='Brosnen' last='Gilmore'] is a force to be reckoned with on offense when he starts to feel it. The basket seemed to get bigger for him as the game went on, and he was making shots from just about everywhere on the court. He also contributed on defense by collecting a steal and consistently hounding his opponents.

Stats - 21 Points

[player_tooltip player_id='2672487' first='Lamarcus' last='Carter'] was a playmaker on both offense and defense for the Gators last night. On offense, he got downhill when there was an opportunity to do so. And he also got to the line a few times. While on defense, Carter picked a couple of pockets and helped spark transition for the Gators.
