Linton Class B Tournament Standouts And Milestones

Linton Head Boys Basketball Coach Alex Jengula put on great tournament this weekend in Linton with alot of Marquee Matchups of Team's/Player's and Coache's, there were even some huge Milestones that were reached in this tournament on Saturday!   Top Milestones of the day were Raeshaun Earl breaking the all-time scoring record for Hankinson School previous record was 1,687 held by Jamie Mauch. Earl now has 1,700 plus points and counting 🔥, 2,000 point mark looks like a sure thing in the near future 👀!   [player_tooltip player_id='1632742' first='Easton' last='Simon'] from New Rockford broke into the 1,000 point club during his game vs Bowman County on saturday, could 1,500 points be on the horizon for Easton!   Top Seniors        Earl looked bigger/stronger then in years past but still showed all the quickness/athleticism he ever has, smart move to bulk up he knows other teams are gonna play him physically each night. Earl's game was on point on both ends of the floor scoring 32 points in the win with pull up jumpers, offensive rebounds/post ups and steals off of there pressure defense. Eveyone knows about all the stats and highlights for Earl but he also has all the intangibles, great teammate/leader/effort/energy are the things that need to be talked about more with this young man!     Easton did all the things you want your best player to do scoring 19 points, getting rebounds/steals assists and hustle plays. Kid is very competitive and knows how to win and what it takes to get the job done. Played a complete game making freethrows/three's and attacking the basket for and one's. Hard driver that knows how to keep his defender off balance.     Asked to do more scoring this season Easton did just that finishing with 13 points and scoring in every way possible, offensive put backs/steals/slashing to the basket and nocking down one three. Easton brings a real toughness and hard minded edge to this team, not afraid to guard any position on the floor or take charges.     Braysen came out of the gate firing and never looked back hitting a couple deep three's and ending the game with 16 points. Braysen looked good handling the ball and attacking the basket which shows growth knowing teams are gonna play him tightly at the three point line. Finished a couple tough drives to the basket in traffic, started the fast breaks off of rebounds which lead to easy points. On any switches onto bigger players he battled tough and made things difficult.     After a quiet first half Jaxon found his groove finishing with 23 points and 5 three's, i honestly think two of them were from the second row bleachers, this kid has to be guarded once he's across half court line. Jaxon did show a great shot fake anytime a defender tried running him off the line and had a couple nice pull up middy jumpers and one where he attacked all the way to the basket.        Grady consistently was able to get to the basket and beat his defender for layups or and one's scoring 22 points. Showed a quick pull up jumper off the bounce and got to the foul line several times and a nice touch around the basket with his floater. Was a real pain on the defensive end also making life miserable for his matchup, didnt take possessions off and took pride at that end of the floor also. Ran the show for his team getting others involved, hard driver and finisher!    Chase had a realy nice all-round game chipping in with 15 points but had a alot of timely baskets especially down the stretch in the 4th quarter. Made some big time three's when team needed them. Can't outwork this kid he takes pride in stopping whoever he is guarding, has relentless effort and energy, does all the dirty work on top of being asked to help on the offensive end.    Top Juniors    Second in scoring on the day was Beau with 29 points and he got them every which way, showed great range hitting three 3's, attacking the basket hard, if he wants to get to the basket hes getting there, dips his shoulder gets low to the ground even though hes a full 6'3 and is stronger this year also. Has a nice pull up jumper off the bounce and will rise up and shoot it over the defender. Asked to be the primary ball handler also and does that very well assisting on several made baskets for the the Tornado's. Think all he does is score think again this kid will play hard tough defense and with his size/length he's extremely athletic/active and physical, complete player 🔥!     In my opinion Jyles looked to be more fit then in the past and it showed on the court with better endurance/energy and effort. Was still the physical and dominant presence down low scoring when he wanted to and making the most of his opportunities, has great hands for a big and an excellent passer outnof the post. Dominate and relentless rebounder, had 12 points/9 boards couple blocks and a dunk 🔥!     Very good all-round guard showed alot of ability to score from three/attacking the basket/free throw line and mid range pull ups finished with 24 points. Ran the show and stole the show vs Napoleon, he was a problem all game long finished with 7 assists also and three steals. Had excellent basketball IQ knowing who was guarding him and when or if he could drive/shoot or drive and kick to open teammates. Rebounded and defended with energy and effort also, nice player!    Top Sophmore    Nice size and athleticism for a sophmore guard, Brody finished with 19 points hitting 2 three's, scoring inside off of offensive rebounds and in transition. With his athleticism he's able to rebound better then most at his position and then start the fast break also. Brody is a hard driver and with his strength hes able to finish through contact and had a couple and one's in the game. This kid will only get better as the season goes on and he will be asked to alot for his team this year.
