Some of the biggest names in the state faced off on the first day of this three day competition. There was no shortage of talent or drama and we can't say who is the best, but there will be some serious questions answered over the next few days. Here are some of the early standouts.

Dantzler is a supreme point guard and his 19 points vs Zachary was nothing short of exceptional. Dantzler is a three level scoring, facilitating, defending game manager and he is just flat out tough. He plays with a chip on his shoulder and could be the determining factor on another championship run. Pushing Zachary to overtime, he lead his team and made the right plays all game. He is a top player in the state, and it doesn't take long to see that he is an Alpha.

Martin may play with the most energy of any player that I have watched recently and it just shows that energy travels. He plays the game like a football player and works to bully and intimidate. Every possession, Martin is locked in and he wants to win. He can score, he can defend and his play style gives John Curtis an edge in every game because he is just a dawg. He does not let up, back down or retreat. On a team with young talent, you can see confidence in other players because he is the big brother on the floor. Not sure what he does best yet, because every time I watch him play he showcases another skill.

Brazier put on a point guard clinic and young players looking for a hoop model need to go and watch Tyler. When the ball is in his hands, good things happen. He is the type of guard that makes parents look forward to watching their kids play. He makes sure that every positive aspect of his teammates game is highlighted. If your player can shoot, he will find them in their spot. If your player is an athletic finisher, then Tyler will put him in a position to showcase that skill. He is not phased by pressure, so good luck intimidating this guard. He is a coach on the court excellent basketball player. On top of all that. He can score. He was big in an impressive win over Northwest.

Manning is the #1 PG in the state and he showed why he holds the title. The biggest game of the day was John Curtis vs Madison Prep, and he dropped a cool 27 points just to remind everyone that he is cut different. A quiet 27 on limited shots is impressive, but the way he sets the table for his team mates is special and it is next level. He walks the line between so many different types of skill sets. He is a calculated guard that looks quiet, but then he will show some emotion. He can put anybody in position to score whenever he wants. His game is complete, and exists without a flaw. He will be fun to watch in College. He will be a steal, and is an early candidate for Mr. Basketball in the State.

Nelson proved again why he is our top player and his 18 point, 10 rebound, 2 block performance is business as usual for the young hooper. Nelson works in and out of the post, making him a tough cover. He is patient around the rim and has elite footwork. He is a match up nightmare for players his size, and anyone smaller is going to need some help. Defensively he looks to intimidate and alters shots consistently. The loaded 2028 class is full of talent, but Nelson is the complete package and his growth playing in the post adds another element to his game that will solidifies his position.

This concludes part one, but there will me more to come. These are some of the leading scorers, but look for more information about our players that locked in on defense and impacted the game in other ways.
