Devin’s State Title Predictions: Class 1A

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>With the season beginning very soon, here are my state title contenders in the 1A class. I will also be predicting each classes state champion in these series of articles.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>Class 1A:</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Annie Wright took home the state title last season but with most of their core players graduating, they will be a new look team. They have a fantastic incoming freshman class but will be young this season. Lynden Christian lost in the state title game and are always a top contending team in the 1A class. Zillah took home third last year after a fantastic season. Their best player and go-to guy will be back too, making this 1A race for the title a close one. Meridian took home 4th, one of the best finishes in their programs history. They saw 2 of their best players, arguably ever, graduate so a rebuild for them could be incoming. Royal home 5th last year after struggling a little bit in the state tournament.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Lynden Christian: </em>The Lyncs are always a top contender and will be again this season. They will see a trio of 2027 class players come back ready to lead the team. [player_tooltip player_id='2392727' first='Dawson' last='Hintz'] could potentially win the NWC MVP with his athleticism and ability to score the ball. [player_tooltip player_id='2457277' first='Kaden' last='Veldman'] is a player who can protect the paint at a very high level and make impactful plays on both ends. He has continued to improve his offensive game, which will only hurt opposing teams more. [player_tooltip player_id='2739562' first='Gunnar' last='Dykstra'] is a top shooter in the 1A class and I say that with high confidence.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Zillah:</em> Zillah is returning everyone but 2 players from last years team which means this squad comes with much more expirence. [player_tooltip player_id='1863242' first='Dekker' last='Van De Graaf'] will be back for his senior year and is hoping to end his high school career with a state title. He has the ability to score from all 3 levels and has a very high IQ for the game. They are filled with players who are about winning and not about personal accolades, which leads to success on the court. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Chelan:</em> Despite losing some key players from last years team, Chelan will have [player_tooltip player_id='2021625' first='Luca' last='Faletto'] back and he is a player who can control the pace of the game nicely and get his teammates involved often. [player_tooltip player_id='2140862' first='Tev' last='Uttech'] is one of the best post players in the 1A class and he can stretch the floor smoothly for his team too. [player_tooltip player_id='2548217' first='Trevor' last='Faletto'] is another player to keep an eye on.
