On Saturday October 25th I attended the 27th annual Arizona Preps Showcase at Inspire Courts. It is typically the last event before tryouts in November. There was around 55 different high schools in attendance and I viewed around 20 of them.

Here were some standout Newcomers

[player_tooltip player_id='3028449' first='Isaiah' last='Akwue'] Sequoia Charter (Pictured)

A long power forward is a face-up type to the three point line. He dunks it way above the rim in traffic over defenders and will score with rip thrus and then will go to work. He is a strong two-handed rebounder and a true mismatch problem with good quickness and skill for position.

[player_tooltip player_id='3028448' first='Qwasie' last='Reid Jr'] Sequoia Charter

A real point guard with some size, poise, passing skills and strength. He will drive and kick it to open shooters around the court. He will get downhill to the basket and rattle in threes off the catch or pull. He plays the game from the neck up and he leads the way for the Charter team.

[player_tooltip player_id='1521262' first='Paul' last='Mcclary III'] Phhoenix Prep

A newcomer from Atlanta. He has good size and a strong frame. He will hit the three off the catch with a nice looking shooting stroke. He is a plus rebounder in his area and flies on the break. He is good getting downhill and shows upside.

[player_tooltip player_id='3028865' first='Demetrius' last='Pink'] Apollo

A guard/wing who can score and defend. He has some length and a little size to keep his defenders in front of him and rebounds out of his area. He will score with dribble drives into the lane and fall aways from mid-range.

[player_tooltip player_id='3028737' first='Aymen' last='Salti'] Paradise Valley

A face-up wing forward with a stronger frame. He is a very good defender in the paint with his size and he can defend in space. He can score it inside with his skill but he is a good shooter from mid to the three point line.

[player_tooltip player_id='3028941' first='Jamir' last='Jones'] Apollo

A hyper athletic lefty scoring guard loves getting downhill to the basket. He has some stuff you can't teach with some serious bounce and quickness and if he adds some perimeter skill, he will be a dangerous player in the West Valley over the next few years.
