252 Area Preview: 2026 Forwards Expected To Have Big Seasons

The 2025-2026 basketball season is just under a week away, with some teams having tryouts, practices, jamborees, and scrimmages scheduled for the next week or so. In this article, we will take a look at the 252 area code and some forwards that we expect to have a major year.    The dual sport athlete from Southwest Edgecombe has been one of the more consistent guys in the area since stepping foot on a varsity basketball floor. He's coming off a sear where he averaged 11pts 7rebs and just under 4 blocks per game. He plays with tons of a versatility to his game and can score from all three levels whether with the ball in his hands or from the catch and score situations.       The two sport athlete who sports a division one football offer from Bryant university is an important piece for Washington high school team with state championship aspirations. He stands around 6'5 with a freakishly long arms and hops that help him jump out of the gym. He operates without the ball most of the time, but can step out and hit the three-pointer when need and does a solid job with straight line drives as well.       One of the leading rebounders into the area and the state overall Richardson showcase a lot more to his game this summer. The Northwest Halifax, basketball team will be young which allowed the elder Richardson the ability to  show he could handle the ball in space and show added ability to knock down  jumpers. Another two sport guy he has solid frame and uses his relentless motor to wreck havoc on both ends of the floor.       Washington County made an appearance in regionals last year and Phelps is one of the main returners from that team. He's another guy who's coming off of a double digit rebound season where he was a terror on both ends of the floor on the glass. With the departure of majority of their scorers I expect to see some added production to him scoring wise, which gave a glimpse of towards the end of the summer.       One of the more underrated guys in the area probably had the best statistical season of all the fowards listed. Offensively he has the game of a wing where he can step out shoot the jumpers, handle the ball well for size and a score from all three levels. Last season he averaged 19 points 14 rebounds 4 assists 3 blocks and 5 steals per contest showcasing his versatility and intrigue as a prospect.       Another one of the more underrated prospects in the area lies deep in the 252 and stands just a tad under 6'8. He quietly averaged a double double for two years and is one of the more agile players of his size in the area. He long and uses his athleticism to play straight up to contest or block shots at the rim and on the other end he's a catching finish guy who when gathered can finish above the rim with ease.     Last on the list we go of one of the most consistent guys in the area in terms of production. Going into a senior has career averages of just under 18 points 10 rebounds and five block shots per contest. He's normally one of the most athletic guys in the gym and does a solid job of timing opposing teams shots at the rim and is just active around the basket on the offensive end. Last season, he showed some promise and being able to hit jump shots out to the three-point line. As far as rebounding goes he should be one of the top in the area another year in a row, he has a chance to finish his career with both 1000 points and rebounds an accolade not many people reach.
