Bloomfield Cardinals Open Gym Notebook:

When I say the expectations around Bloomfield are that the Cardinals win, I mean the expectations around Bloomfield is that they win big. Only lose three seniors from a 17-8 team that is returning an Indiana Junior-All Star along with a rotation that can go nine-deep this season, that's where the high expectations come from for Coach Nate O'Neall's squad. Here is everything I saw from open gym:   KEY RETURNERS:    Leading scorer that was named an Indiana Junior-All Star, [player_tooltip player_id='1560962' first='Blake' last='Neill'] doesn't have a lot of weaknesses on the offensive end as a high school basketball player. 6'6” wing that is a good blend of size, strength, and skill. Scores it from all three levels. Knock down three-point shooter that can also put it on the floor and get to any spot on the floor and stay on balance and score. With his size and strength he is the biggest matchup nightmare in the state at the 1A level and has a chance to lead the entire state in scoring.     Smooth left handed 6'3” wing that scores in a variety of different ways. Good three-point shooter that when he gets hot, he can completely take over a game. Smooth release that elevates. Has the ability to get to the rim and finish tough buckets. Needs to tighten handle, but will be second leading scorer this season and have a bunch of big games for the Cardinals.     Long and athletic forward that just knows what his job is and does a good job of doing it. At 6'6” he's a good leaper that gets off the floor quick. He's a defensive minded forward that is aggressive protecting the rim and rebounds at a high level. He's a high motor player that impacts the paint in both ends.     Shortened junior season due to an Achilles injury, and now getting back to full strength, Abner is not what he looks to be. Big strong forward that will provide shooting and leadership. Vocal defensively and a strong rebounder, he's a defensive anchor in the paint that is not afraid to compete.     Senior guard that has a nice bounce to his step. Steady with the ball in his hands. Does a good job coming off ball screens and being aggressive. Good shooter that elevates well especially in the midrange. Defensively he plays with active hands and quick feet and knows how to stay out of foul trouble.    NEW ADDITIONS:    Big bruising forward that shoots the lights out. Does a good job getting his feet set and doesn't need much room to get his shot off. Should be able to impact the glass on both ends of the floor. A really good depth piece at forward that will provide shooting.     Defensive minded guard that plays with a high motor. Does a really good job getting up in his matchup and keeping him in front without fouling. Not the biggest guy, but has the ability to guard multiple positions and potentially be that locked down defender. Offensively he's a steady guard that doesn't force the issue. Will be really good off the bench as a depth piece for the Cardinals.     Three-point specialist that does a good job getting open. Understands angles and how to use screens. Showed he can put the ball on the floor and make good decisions in the limited live action. Competes in the defensive end and communicates well. Will be relied on heavily for his perimeter shooting.
