PH NorCal was at Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose for the Bay Area Classic for Boys HS Basketball. 27 teams, more than 350 players observed. We watched halfs, and whole games. If we saw the first half, we would see the same team again, maybe another half or the whole game. Here are more standouts from the first five games on court 1, Saturday at Bellarmine College Prep.

[player_tooltip player_id='2894463' first='Scottie' last='Beamish']: The incoming Freshman will be a contributor his first season on the Varsity. He's a 6'0 combo guard for now. He has the offensive tools that allows him to be productive at any given time within the flow of the offense. He had solid drives into the paint for jumpers, and layups, he dropped a couple of 3's in transition, and around the perimeter. He has effort defending out on the perimeter.

[player_tooltip player_id='2737158' first='Hezekiah' last='Sires']: He's 6'5 plays with energy, and passion. He's still finding his way with his new team. In do time he'll settle himself, and be a contributor. He's an active rebounder, a talking defender, he can move from post to perimeter defending. He has the ability and hops to go out of his space for rebounds, and blocks. He'll rebound, push, and pass in transition, he hustle to fill lanes in transition. He can use a dribble or two to get closer to the rim.

Justin Whitaker: A newcomer standing 6'3 in the class of 2028. He has good activity around the basket, finds ways to get his shot off in traffic. Going up high, finishing strong around the rim for points, might throw one down off two feet. He has strength, a quick bouncy jumper working for rebounds on both ends.

[player_tooltip player_id='2737140' first='Toby' last='Merchant'] Jr: He's got poise for a 2028 point guard, he'll have his ups and downs, but does a solid job running the teams offense. A quality ball handler, sees the court, moves the ball around the perimeter, find his cutters, and feeds the post. He's pushing and looking in transition. He can maneuver his way into the paint for floaters, and short jumpers. He'll shoot open 3's.

[player_tooltip player_id='2517134' first='Jadon' last='Shabaglian']: 6'4, and growing, with a solid body. He continues to develop his overall skill set. He brought the ball up court, started the offense in half-courton occasion. His ball handling, passing, and decision making will sharpen as he gets more opportunities. He has strong drives to the basket, runs and finishes at the rim in transition. He has an improving mid-range jumper. His size, strength, and footspeed allows him to defend in the post and along the perimeter. He'll go after rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='2872459' first='Hudson' last='Dennison']: Standing 6'6 his best work is done inside the paint, though he's shown he can make 3's. He works to keep the ball live for others if he can't get to it. He plays off two feet, posting up, or coming across, turning with balance taking up to the rim. From the high post, he passes, and finished drives. He has the size to get rebounds, and defend the paint at this level.

Ayaan Bawa: Newcomer, long, wiry plays a bit of the inside /out game. He has post moves, a turnaround jumper, he can get his shot without taking too many hard hits. He hit the paint and free throw jumper, stepped out for 3's on occasion. He'll get rebounds, lead the break at times, run to fill lanes for transition buckets.

James Wilson: Newcomer played well in transition basketball, always seems to be on the finishing end, getting wide, racing up court for transition layups. He had drives along the baseline and other areas getting to the basket. He dropped a couple of rhythm 3's. He has footspeed to stay close to defending is position, helps weak side, he collected a couple of steals for easy baskets, or passed it up for the assist.

Grady Stuart: A fast, hard playing point guard, always in attack mode. He'll come from different angles including the baseline hard, and fast for assists, or points taking the hit from defenders. He's fast pushing it in transition looking for the assist or going coast to coast if you don't cut him off. He has good lift on mid-range, and paint jumpers. He's a bit feisty defending on ball.

Dejuan Flemming: A good defender with footspeed to hound ball handlers, and disrupt the rhythm of shooters staying close, and making contact without fouling, he got a few steals using quick hands. He can handle, go hard and strong to the basket challenging defenders. He'll race up court to finish layups in transition.

[player_tooltip player_id='2359721' first='Teni' last='Bamisebi']: The big fella makes his presence felt on the defensive side of the ball, while continuing to develop his offensive post moves, and build muscle. He's alert, roams the paint, secure rebounds, he'll get a block, or change a shot. When he keeps the ball up, maintains balance he has a better chance to convert. He's a good post passer.
