16th Region's Small School Standouts

This is the final list of small-school standouts as we wrap up in the northeastern part of Kentucky. While this list isn't as large as some of the others, there's still plenty of talent to highlight—even with several of the bigger schools in the 16th Region being loaded with standout players. Athletes from seven schools were considered: Elliott County, Fairview, Menifee County, Morgan County, Raceland, Rose Hill Christian, and West Carter. Elliott County captured the 16th Region Class “A” title and returns several key contributors, while Morgan County and Raceland also make their mark here. Here's the list:    Adkins is a versatile, high-impact player who thrives on both ends of the floor. He brings energy, physicality, and a strong basketball IQ that allows him to fill whatever role his team needs. Defensively, he's tough and disciplined, capable of guarding multiple positions and crashing the boards with intensity. Offensively, he finishes well through contact, moves effectively without the ball, and has the touch to step out and hit shots when needed. Adkins' blend of toughness, skill, and adaptability makes him one of the most reliable and well-rounded players in the region.     [player_tooltip player_id='2125699' first='Asher' last='Gamble'] is a dynamic guard who plays with burst, balance, and great instincts. His quick first step and fluid movement in transition make him dangerous whenever he touches the ball, and his sharp footwork helps him navigate traffic with ease. He's a confident shot-maker from the perimeter with deep range and the ability to rise and fire or create space off the bounce. Gamble also shows strong court sense, finds open teammates, and stays active without the ball to keep defenses on edge. On the defensive side, his timing and awareness allow him to jump passing lanes and force turnovers.     [player_tooltip player_id='1745590' first='Jonah' last='Arnett'] is a skilled, composed guard who brings scoring consistency and efficiency to every game. A 1,000-point scorer and All-Area selection, he led Raceland last season with 15.1 points per outing while shooting 43% from three and an impressive 87% at the line. Arnett's quick release and confident stroke make him a dangerous perimeter threat who can catch fire in a hurry. He's smart with his shot selection, finishes well through contact, and reads defenses effectively to make the right play at the rim.     Tysen Crabtree was a key contributor to Elliott County's Class “A” regional championship team. He nearly averaged a double-double, posting 9.0 points and a team-high 8.4 rebounds per game, while leading the team in field goal percentage at an impressive 63.1%. One of his top performances came in a 16-point, 15-rebound outing.     Although [player_tooltip player_id='1402182' first='Parker' last='Trusty'] is continuing his athletic career at the next level in baseball, he's also a standout on the basketball court. A versatile player who can score, distribute, defend, and shoot from the perimeter, Trusty impacts the game in multiple ways. He averaged 10.9 points per game, led the team in three-pointers made (72) and three-point percentage (41.4%), and added 3.9 rebounds per contest. Defensively, he reads the game well, anticipates passing lanes, and has strong hands on both ends of the floor.     [player_tooltip player_id='2569324' first='Charles' last='Welch'] has good size and a strong presence inside, consistently impacting the game in the paint on both ends of the floor. He brings shot-blocking ability and a good sense for reading defenders when attacking the rim. Welch shows soft touch around the basket, rebounds well, and moves with purpose thanks to his solid footwork and active feet. He averaged 7.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game while shooting an efficient 56.1% from the field. With one of Raceland's leading scorers from last season gone, Welch is poised to take on an even larger role.     [player_tooltip player_id='2749523' first='Aiden' last='Barker'] averaged 11 points per game last season while shooting an efficient 57.3% from the field and 39.1% from three, along with pulling down four rebounds per game. A strong and reliable defender, he showcased his defensive skills during the Class "A" tournament. Just as he did last season, Barker is expected to play a key role in helping Elliott County make a run back to the Class "A" state tournament. Aiden has 551 points and 246 rebounds over his career.
