The 14U Division for the Prep Hoops Circuit in Texas showcased the future of high school basketball for years to come. This recap article will highlight the top forwards from the 14U competition I observed during the 2025 circuit. Not only will this article recap the skills of these forwards, but it will also highlight what's next for them as well in the future. These forwards have the potential to make a significant impact on the high school level. 15U, 16U and 17U divisions will follow this recap of the 14U division.

Morgan Martin is a natural power forward who often draws attention around the paint, where he is typically fed the ball by his teammates. With possession of the ball in the paint, Morgan capitalizes on close shot opportunities with a soft touch. He doesn't shy away from contact either, as evidenced by the numerous trips to the free-throw line he's had during my time watching him play. Defensively, he utilizes his 6'4” frame to contest shots in the paint, occasionally generating blocks.

What's Next for Morgan?
Morgan Martin is a freshman this year that has the potential to be truly exceptional as his high school career progresses. With dedication and hard work, he can enhance his game and become a formidable threat on both ends of the field. I eagerly anticipate witnessing his growth and development over time!

Abas Ahmed is a formidable force in the paint, known for his ability to create post moves and create easy high-percentage points. His passing out of the post was particularly impressive, as he made plays for teammates on the perimeter who were often ready to shoot. Ahmed is also a reliable rebounder, especially on the offensive end, where he makes an effort to secure second-chance opportunities. In one close game I watched him play in, he was willing to take the last shot to lead his team to victory!

What's next for Abas?
The current sophomore Abas Ahmed delivered an exceptional performance during the Prep Hoops Circuit, and I anticipate continued success during the fall season. Considering his size, he poses a significant threat in the post, and with that in mind, he has the potential to enhance his game in the next two years of high school. Equipped with the necessary tools and a mindset to make big plays, he has a promising future ahead!

Judah Matesun, undoubtedly the standout defender in his position, stood out throughout my observation of the 14U division during the Prep Hoops Circuit this summer. His exceptional footwork allowed him to effortlessly counter opposing ball handlers, while his active hands enabled him to generate numerous steals in the stat sheet. On the offensive front, Judah demonstrated his prowess by effectively cutting in the half-court, creating scoring opportunities for his team. When his Genesis 14U team transitioned the ball, he excelled in filling out the lanes, often finishing plays at the rim with ease.

What's Next for Judah?
Judah is a current freshman that is determined to become a more formidable player with the years he has left in high school. Throughout the summer, he has dedicated himself to honing his skills, demonstrating significant improvement in various aspects of his game. If he maintains this relentless work ethic, I firmly believe that Judah's name will soon be recognized by numerous scouting services and college coaches!

Jakius McCluskey was a formidable scoring threat during my time watching him play on the Prep Hoops Circuit. Offensively, he excelled in shooting from the perimeter, quickly dribbling past defenders to get to the basket, and making plays off the dribble. At times, he would take the ball full court, creating transition opportunities for himself. Defensively, he demonstrated his ability to pressure opposing ball handlers on the perimeter, forcing them into making passes.

What's Next for Jakius?
Jakius is a scoring threat has a good chance of expanding his impact as a current freshman. Throughout my time watching him play during the Prep Hoops circuit, I've noticed his consistent activity in various defensive aspects. He's always hustling, generating hustle plays by getting deflections, being on the floor for loose ball opportunities, and rebounding on both ends of the court. Offensively, Preston has found himself wide open in cutting situations during transition and in the half-court.

What's Next for Preston?
Preston already possesses a remarkable skill set as a player who is willing to sacrifice himself for the team's success. If he can maintain this level of skill while also enhancing his offensive game, he has the potential to become even more formidable over time. His play style is truly impactful!
