Utah’s Top Duo’s in 5A

They are led by nationally ranked wing [player_tooltip player_id='1278448' first='Dean' last='Rueckert'], who not only makes a name for himself across the country, he has also committed to BYU, which will make him a local name to watch in the future. When Rueckert can keep his pedal to the metal, he is a hard player to stop because he commits to laying both sides of the ball. It will be interesting to see who can figure out a way to slow him down this coming season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Will Openshaw is another player who has steadily been on the rise. He went from an unknown freshman with a little bit of length to a very sought-after senior with various Division 1 offers. His shooting ability is impressive, and the other thing that will only get better at the next level is his defense. He is in the right places and makes great reads, and at the next level, he will be able to put it all together. This is one of the best duo's if not the best, in the state.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Orem</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1724358' first='Troy' last='Kaufusi'] &amp; [player_tooltip player_id='2306605' first='Simeon' last='Suguturaga']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Both of these players have been able to elevate their game, and Troy has been able to really make a move in his development needle as he has just been ranked in the Top 50 in the country. Kaufusi was one of the best scoring guards in the country in the spring and summer on the EYBL Circuit. Look for him to start to show that skill set this season at Orem. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Suguturaga, on the other hand, has emerged as a crucial player, garnering significant offers and attention. His length at the 2/3 position allows him to dictate the defensive tone while also contributing with key offensive plays. Expect Suguturaga to be a prolific scorer this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Spingville</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Jaymn Sondrup &amp; [player_tooltip player_id='1724426' first='Swift' last='Hall']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Springville has been good for the past few years, but this could be the window that they are looking for to really make a run, and they will need the best out of [player_tooltip player_id='1278439' first='Jamyn' last='Sondrup']. The very skilled big man can shoot the ball, and he can work inside. Truly has a game built for the college level. With a lot of D1 suitors, Sondrup is among the best versatile big men out West. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Then you have [player_tooltip player_id='1724426' first='Swift' last='Hall'], one of the craftiest lead guards in 5A, who do not get enough hype. He can work off the ball and get quality shots up, and he also can break people off the dribble and get to elite scoring spots on the floor. Expect him and Jamyn to play a big-time two-man game that will get everyone going on the floor. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
