Section 1AA: First Look

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As if 1AA hasn't been talented enough, now Goodhue and Rushford-Peterson have been added to the mix as well. We have a look at 1AA today. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Super Summary</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Moving from A to AA would be a pretty big adjustment for some but Goodhue and Rushford-Peterson have spent years playing against Class AA competition during the season so the jump should be next to nothing for them. This year more than most, they won't mind the jump.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Rushford-Peterson is a team I have at 10, 11, 12 coming into the season and after doing some recent research on some Goodhue returning players, and knowing the fantastic team basketball they play, I moved them from number three in my preseason poll to even higher (the new power rankings will be next week). When you add these two teams to Lake City, Cannon Falls who has a lot of talent returning, Zumbrota-Mazeppa who has everything returning, Chatfield who will be better than expected, and Caledonia and Triton who won't be as deep as others but they both have stars and they both have a good player with that star.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This section will have at least five of the top 20 teams in the state and maybe six. Goodhue, Lake City and RP are in that top ten area, and Cannon Falls, ZM and Triton are in that next area of ten. The preseason AA All State team will have several 1AA kids among the top 20 or 25 players in the class. Overall, this might be my favorite section of basketball in the state.
