It's a new look section that should be a fun competition. The team stepping to the forefront will be Rochester Mayo who won 18 games a season ago and brings back all their key pieces from a season ago. They have guards, they have scoring wings, they have posts, and they have an experienced team that not only should be a top two team in the Big Nine, but a top favorite in 1AAAA.

Then you have the Lakevilles. North is going through some changes while I think South could be a bit better than people realize. North has good players but I think South will have the edge when it comes to guards of talent, experience, etc. I think South will be a bit better. The sneaky team is Farmington who will have a great frontcourt but we will have to see what the guards coming up look like to truly know about the Tigers.

The rest of the group: JM won the section last year but they only have one player back from last year's state team. Century and Owatonna both got hit by graduation pretty hard although the Huskies have some good young players upcoming. New Prague lost their one good player to graduation and that was after a rough season.

(3) Not sure. No third team stands out among the eight

Three Teams That Might Not Match Last Year's Win Total

(1) Rochester JM (26-6 last year). That will be almost impossible to match with all the graduations

(2) Lakeville North (18-11 last year). New coach, guards without much experience, but a much improved [player_tooltip player_id='1437598' first='Dane' last='Danielson']

(3) Rochester Century (7-20 last year). Transfers and graduation should make it tough to hit that same mark.
