<p>Mosinee moves to Division 3 after competing in Division 2 a year ago with a team more than capable of getting all the way to the WIAA State Tournament in Madison. Coach Matt Lindsey's squad is loaded with talent, experience and a deep desire to make a deep playoff run. While Mosinee might jump out as the team to beat in Sectional 3, many schools from the always competitive Middle Border Conference also reside among the 25 schools in this sectional field, and several of the squads in that league also have high hopes of making a run toward the Kohl Center.<br><br>Following is a look at the top players and top teams in Sectional 3:</p>

Mosinee</strong> -- After finishing 18-8 last winter, Mosinee welcomes back a pair of first-team all-Great Northern Conference performers in Reinke and Stoffel. Sebastian Andersen (6-4) and [player_tooltip player_id='2714970' first='Carson' last='Balgord'] (6-0) joined Reinke and Stoffel in the Indians' starting rotation and that gifted foursome gives Mosinee one of the more experienced clubs in the sectional.<br><br><strong>2. Osceola</strong> -- Osceola won the Middle Border Conference title by two games over runner-up Prescott a year ago and welcomes back two of the better players in the eight-team loop in Irbeck and Bradway. Both averaged just over 17.0 ppg as juniors. Senior guard Waylan Cole (6-1) is another key returning player for coach Tyler Olson.<br><br><strong>3. Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau</strong> -- The Red Hawks look to end West Salem's domination in the Coulee Conference behind an experienced squad led by Brone, a four-year varsity performer who can play either guard spot and is dynamite with the ball in his hands. Look for senior [player_tooltip player_id='2432831' first='Travis' last='Theisen'] (6-7) to have a big season for G-E-T in addition to Brone.<br><br><strong>4. Northwestern</strong> -- A perennial power in the Heart O'North Conference, the Tigers tied Cumberland for the league crown last season and welcomes back one of the top players in northern Wisconsin in Kroll, a dynamic junior wing who can score in many different ways. Coach Nolan Graff also returns junior Tyson Teal (5-11) and senior Ethan Harms (6-3).<br><br><strong>5. Prescott </strong>-- Russell is a three-year starter for the Cardinals and one of the better athletes in the state. The North Dakota State football recruit led the team in scoring in 2024-25 while junior [player_tooltip player_id='2809649' first='Emmett' last='Otto'] (6-1) and senior [player_tooltip player_id='2500056' first='Max' last='Monteith'] (6-2) also return for coach Nick Johnson. <br><br><strong>Sleeper Team<br><br>Elk Mound</strong> -- The Mounders make the switch from the Dunn-St. Croix to the Western Cloverbelt with a solid team more than capable of posting regional and sectional victories this winter. Senior post player [player_tooltip player_id='2895382' first='Victor' last='Noller'] (6-5) is the top returning player for the Mounders. Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='2418811' first='Zeb' last='Robinson'] (6-0) flashed a lot of potential playing varsity minutes as a freshman.<br><br></p>
