August is almost half over, meaning the academic school year is creeping closer. The 2028 class is ready to make its mark on the hardwood this season, especially in the back court. Here are the 2028 Non-Public B guards to watch this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2397968' first='Connor' last='Junker'], 6'0 PG Gill St. Bernard's

Junker had a big debut season for the Knights and should have an even bigger sophomore season for them. The 6'0 guard has a smooth release on his jumper and can get knock down triples in bunches. Junker is more than just a shooter as he can also get into the lane off the bounce and can score in the mid-range. He rarely forces shots in the mid-range and gets deflections on the defensive end. Junker's ability to make plays with the ball in his hands is something that will raise his stock in a big way in 2025-26.

[player_tooltip player_id='2504745' first='Chase' last='Bray'], 5'11 PG Roselle Catholic

Bray joins a talented Lions' back court, but that won't stop him from making his impact felt this season. The 5'11 guard has a tight handle, which he uses to blow by his defender and finishes nicely around the rim. Bray threads passes to his open teammates in the half court and rarely makes bad decisions with the ball in his hands. He can also play off the ball and pushes the pace well in transition. Bray is a true floor general who should get opportunities to run the offense for the Lions this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2763609' first='Jake' last='Ellis'], 5'10 PG/CG St. Mary's Rutherford

Ellis will look to make an immediate impact for the Gaels as he provides them with scoring on the perimeter. The Hoboken transfer uses his handle to get to his spot on the floor and has a good touch on his floater. Ellis sets his feet before he shoots and makes opponents pay for giving him space behind the arc. He slides his feet on the defensive end and pushes the pace well in transition. Ellis has the ability to put up points in bunches and should put that on display this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2763631' first='Oymere' last='Rene'], 6'1 SG St. Rose

Rene has the potential to breakout this season as he should get more touches in the offense. The 6'1 guard has a good first step, which he uses to get past his defender off the bounce and finishes well around the rim. Rene is more than just a slasher as he has a nice release on his jumper and can knock down open jumpers from behind the arc. He works hard on the defensive end and is an underrated passer. Rene is a gritty guard prospect whose ability to make plays at both ends of the floor will help his stock in a big way this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2194748' first='Bryce' last='Scott'], 5'9 CG Roselle Catholic

Scott has the ability to play both guard spots, which he should put on display this season. The 5'9 guard has a nice handle, which he uses to blow by his defender off the bounce and can finish through contact around the basket. Scott moves well without the ball in his hands, freeing himself for open layups and jumpers in the half court. He moves his feet well on the defensive end and can find his open teammates in the half court. Scott's ability to run the offense and make plays on the defensive end is something that will help his game throughout the course of the season.
