As I continue to recap the July Prep Hoops Events it would be irresponsible of me to not highlight the players who are elevating from Prep Hoops Next (Middle School) to Prep Hoops (High School). These guys made an impact playing up a level and looked to be primed for their first year of high school basketball.

[player_tooltip player_id='2675420' first='Quinn' last='Carroll'] [program_tooltip program_id='2078448' first='Illinois' last='Wolves'] 2029 (Lyons Township)

Quinn is a high-level shooter who hit 6 threes in one game. He can make shots on the move and in catch-and-shoot situations. Carroll already has a good size and feel for the game was the leading scorer in multiple games for the Wolves. He has a good handle on the ball and can score in the lane. Quinn will earn his stripes on the lower levels before teaming with [player_tooltip player_id='2538631' first='Grant' last='Smith'] on the varsity.

[player_tooltip player_id='2865685' first='Jayson' last='Benton'] 1Dream 2029 (Bishop McNamara)

Benton is an energetic guard who excels at playing an up-tempo pace. He is at his best when running fastbreaks hitting tough shots over much taller defenders. When on the ball he has some wiggle to his game but also shoots it well from three. As a freshman Jayson plays with a ton of confidence and has the tools to be an impact guard on the high school level.

Deuce Johnson IL Wolves 2029 (Marist)

Duece is a big guard who plays with the ball on a string. When looking to score he makes a living off mid-range jumpers. Duece uses a shifty crossover to get to the second line of the defense. Johnson has three 3-level scoring ability but can be utilized as a passer in particular moments. Duece's confidence and skill will translate well to high school.

[player_tooltip player_id='2369859' first='Jayce' last='Lopez'] 2029 [program_tooltip program_id='2785912' first='Team' last='FVV'] (Rockford Guilford) 5'9

Lopez is a quick and athletic lefty guard who plays with a strong motor, gets to the basket with hard drives, and does a good job at scoring off two feet in the lane. He is a relentless defender and rebounder for a guard his size. As a standout from our Middle School Camp it was no shock that he excelled a level up.
