The 2025 Phenom Hoops Summer Havoc Live began on Friday, July 18th, in Bermuda Run, North Carolina. This event features a good balance of high-level and under-the-radar prospects from across the Southeast. Check out these five players who stood out to me on Day One:

Headlining my list of standouts from Friday at the Phenom Summer Havoc Live is [player_tooltip player_id='2816326' first='Preston' last='Heffner']. He has been on a tear since re-joining CPB this month, and continued that with a big first game in Bermuda Run. The first thing that jumps out at you when you watch Preston is his length, as he uses it effectively on both ends of the floor. Heffner also has lots of moves in his bag to be an efficient paint scorer, including comfort with both hands, good touch, reverse lays, the ability to play off two, and the aforementioned length. He will also contribute on the glass, looking to take the ball coast-to-coast if the lane is open. Preston racked up 16 points, 3 steals, and 1 block in the win over the Hurricanes.

Miles stood out for [program_tooltip program_id='2078724' first='Carolina' last='Pressure']'s 17U group in a matchup with [program_tooltip program_id='2078473' first='CC' last='Elite']. Payton was dominant on the offensive glass for CPB, hauling in 4 offensive rebounds and turning them into 6 points. He also flashed his skill with a right-corner three and a right-handed finish off a baseline drive. When not working the glass or on the perimeter, Miles filled good lanes in the dunker spot and in transition, providing space for his Guards to drive and make reads. At 6'5", Payton's offensive package should intrigue College Coaches, particularly those whose systems value spacing and versatility.

Next up on the list of standouts from Day One in Bermuda Run is [player_tooltip player_id='2469370' first='Keshun' last='McCoy']. He was a bright spot for [program_tooltip program_id='2163938' first='Next' last='Level Elite'] in a loss to Elite 1, putting up a balanced 9 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block. McCoy is one of NLE's bigger Guards, so he asked to be a versatile weapon and contribute to guarding bigs and rebounding on defense, as well as creating scoring opportunities on offense. Keshun excelled at playing through contact, which allowed him to finish at the rim and get to his spots in the mid-range without much trouble. McCoy made defensive plays on the perimeter, too, and turned those into buckets on multiple occasions.

Gadsden stood out as a 2029 playing up in the 15U Division. He is a smaller Guard at the moment, which makes it even more impressive that he can hold his own with older players. Darnell brought good defensive intensity from the jump, but began to find an offensive rhythm as the game went on. He has nice quickness that allows him to move his feet, contain the ball, and force tough shots or turnovers. On offense, Gadsden showcased his ability to create off the dribble with a pull-up three, a scoop-layup, and a spin-layup. He finished with 7 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals in the Game One win.

Rounding out the list is Matthew Rivlin, my lone North Carolina Standout from Friday at the Phenom Summer Havoc Live. Matthew's game revolves around his athleticism and motor, as that combination makes him a force around the rim at both ends. In a win over [program_tooltip program_id='2226228' first='Team' last='CP3'], Rivlin lived on the glass, chasing every missed shot and turning several offensive boards into second-chance scores. He also has good length, which helps him finish at the rim, and can stretch the floor to the perimeter on occasion. Matthew tallied an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double in the opener.
