What player really outplayed what we were expecting from this year from each of the top 20 teams? We give you a name today! And why.

(1) [program_tooltip program_id='2075431' first='D1' last='Minnesota']. [player_tooltip player_id='1560778' first='Nolen' last='Anderson']. I think many thought Nolen would have a really good year but I doubt many thought we would be calling Nolen the state player of the year in 17u, or at least in the top two, that has what puts him on this list.

(2) [program_tooltip program_id='2888391' first='Minnesota' last='Comets']. [player_tooltip player_id='2118495' first='Talan' last='Witt']. Witt's explosive athletic ability mixed with combo guard ability has led to many D2 options. [player_tooltip player_id='2100912' first='Stephen' last='McGee'] is also worth mentioning but Talan playing at this level has been a great surprise.

(3) [program_tooltip program_id='2075672' first='Minnesota' last='Fury'] Antl. [player_tooltip player_id='1560798' first='Lucas' last='Gustafson']. I don't think anybody thought Lucas would step into the Isaac Olmsted role with little drop off but that is what we have seen as Lucas is pushing for first team all state at 17u.

(4) [program_tooltip program_id='2075685' first='Minnesota' last='Select'] Ohnstad. [player_tooltip player_id='1437598' first='Dane' last='Danielson']. Lots of candidates here but I will go with Dane who has proven to be one of the most recruited D2 kids in the state.

(5) [program_tooltip program_id='2075672' first='Minnesota' last='Fury'] Reyes. [player_tooltip player_id='1560811' first='Collin' last='Johnson']. This one has to be Collin although [player_tooltip player_id='2417626' first='Will' last='Gyarmaty'] is close. Collin has played well for both the Fury and WOTN as both a scorer and as a smart decision maker.

(6) Real Phenom. [player_tooltip player_id='2119596' first='Cooper' last='Fahning']. Cooper has gone from a 6'8 forward that scored three or four times at EP and did the dirty work, to a prospect that has skills and can be a defensive game changer.

(7) [program_tooltip program_id='2455790' first='Howard' last='Pulley']. [player_tooltip player_id='1560866' first='Camare'' last='Young']. The Appple Valley forward has versatility and that was known, but would it translate to a higher level of 17u play? We've seem it has when it comes to production and college opportunity earned (or potentially could be earned).

(8) Hoop Habits. [player_tooltip player_id='1560786' first='Lexyn' last='Grof']. Grof had a strong junior year but I don't know that many knew who he was until he had a few games knocking out threes locally in Minnesota 17u events.

(9) Team FSA. Collin Piper. Piper was an up and coming name two years ago, he had a nice couple of high school years but I don't know that he was talked about too much, and with FSA this spring and summer, he is on the radar of D2, D3 and NAIA schools.

(10) [program_tooltip program_id='2075674' first='Minnesota' last='Heat']. [player_tooltip player_id='2575642' first='Kobbe' last='Willis']. I know Kobbe got hurt and has a lot of recovery work to do but he's earned this spot as a guy that really surprised with his play.

(11) Minnesota Swish. [player_tooltip player_id='1560769' first='Ethan' last='Sonju']. Ethan scored a ton at GSL but would that translate to 17u? It 100 percent did as Ethan has been a top 17u scorer this season.

(12) [program_tooltip program_id='2075672' first='Minnesota' last='Fury'] DeLo. [player_tooltip player_id='1874800' first='Brayden' last='Gorton']. The 6'9 face-up skilled big from Washburn continues to show signs of improvement and consistency. Certainly a big winter is needed but Gorton is on the radar of many schools.

(13) Southwest MN Stars. [player_tooltip player_id='2119642' first='Avery' last='Christensen']. The guard that just put up 30 showing a lot more skilled shake than many were aware of, plus Avery has really matured as a skilled athlete.

(14) Minnesota Lace Up. [player_tooltip player_id='2381759' first='Reggie' last='Parker']. The 6'6 frontcourt player that is strong, agile, productive and a teammate that guys love competing with, and colleges are taking notice.

(15) [program_tooltip program_id='2078859' first='Starks' last='Elite']. Emmanuel Malok. Malok has a world of potential and he's a name we will keep I the back of our mind as we wait and see how that potential develops wherever he is playing going forward.

(16) [program_tooltip program_id='2075485' first='Gain' last='Elite']. [player_tooltip player_id='2842383' first='Sam' last='Rupnow']. Sam is an athletic scoring guard from Liberty Classical that scored over 21 a game last season and he's played well with [program_tooltip program_id='2075485' first='Gain' last='Elite'] this year.

(17) Powerhouse Minnesota. Tyrell Pride. The Johnson attacking guard not only gives results but when we saw him with the Heat as well, he played the attack and kick, attack and dump role well, plus the ball pressure is high level.

(18) [program_tooltip program_id='2075449' first='East' last='Metro Bounce']. [player_tooltip player_id='2465510' first='Mark' last='Graff']. Love his toughness and ability to play both guard spots. This is a player that I think could have a huge senior season.

(19) [program_tooltip program_id='2075496' first='Grassroots' last='Sizzle']. [player_tooltip player_id='2115657' first='Gavin' last='Roderick']. The many different highlight packages of Roderick 7-8 bucket games showing a varsity of scores are out there everywhere.

(20) Minnesota Lightning. [player_tooltip player_id='2381757' first='Cole' last='Hebrink']. I'd say the Austin guard is my pick here. Hebrink is a more consistent, dangerous scorer than I think most are aware of. He's becoming more consistent and I think he would make a great D3 prospect.
