This past weekend, I attended the Zero Gravity Finals at the Dana Barros Basketball Club in Stoughton, MA. I watched teams in the 10th grade and varsity divisions, mostly in the top division of each.

As always, it's impossible to see all of the teams in any given division — there are tons of locations and a handful of games going at once at all times. I try to watch as many games and players as I can. So, this week, I'll be recapping some of the players that stood out.

Gregory-Alleyne was probably One Dream's most successful driver to the hoop this weekend. He does a great job using his off-hand to throw the defense's balance off, and he stays low on drives to the hoop for finishes. He got to the front of the rim at will and was able to hit a variety of layups from different angles. I didn't see him shoot too much from the outside, so I can't speak to his ability there, but he's a really solid ball handler with good vision and a knack for getting downhill. The junior guard should have a big season for Trinity High School in Manchester next year, and I'll be curious whether he can find a fit at the D3 level after that. My guess would be yes.

Youssef is a cerebral point guard who won't wow you with quickness or jumping ability but can really handle the ball and create for himself and others. He has a nice stop-and-go dribble game and does a fantastic job changing speeds. He can also shoot the three ball if you play off of him, though I think his release could use some work. Once he gets into the paint, he has great vision and can throw a variety of passes with both hands off the dribble, and he really understands attacking closeouts and being ready on the catch. He looks like he has a lot more physical development to undergo, so I'll be curious to see what he looks like in a couple years. Bright future.

Echevarria looked so much more controlled than the last time I saw him. Against Crown, he was one of the only guys that could consistently get into the paint and once he got there, he played with control and strength against tons of big guards and forwards. He finished well in the paint with both hands and also hit a good number of mid range shots off the bounce (as well as some threes). Most impressive is his on-ball defense, where he slides his feet to beat handlers to the spot and has super active hands and a strong base. He has a dog mentality that makes him difficult to go up against but a pleasure to have on your side.

Ciampa always impresses me with his IQ and skill set. The 5-foot-10 guard is certainly undersized for the point guard position, but he has such a good head on his shoulders and always makes the right play for himself or others. He sees backdoor cutters and slippers for easy layups and also does a great job getting into the paint for easy spray outs. I also really like his floater game; he's under control and has really nice touch. His height will limit his recruitment but he should definitely find a D3 fit somewhere at the mid or low level. Some added quickness would do him wonders and potentially level up his recruitment.

Keel is as under control as it gets with the ball in his hands. He's always scanning the floor looking for back-tappers and he keeps such a low center of gravity that he's impossible to take the ball away from. Despite his size (5-foot-11), he uses his quickness and speed to breeze by defenders and touch the paint, and then he's unselfish looking for spray outs or dump down passes. Keel's lack of size is going to limit his recruitment, but I definitely think he can play at the scholarship level --- he's just so comfortable with the ball in his hands and has everything you're looking for in a point guard.
