This weekend, I attended the Zero Gravity Finals at the Dana Barros Basketball Club in Stoughton, MA. I watched teams in the 10th grade and varsity divisions, mostly in the top division of each.

As always, it's impossible to see all of the teams in any given division — there are tons of locations and a handful of games going at once at all times. I try to watch as many games and players as I can. So, this week, I'll be recapping some of the players that stood out.

Below is part 2 of my standouts from the Middlesex Magic, who had numerous teams competing in the ZG Finals. If you missed part 1, here it is.

Hynes is playing with Middlesex Magic's top team now and looked really good in a role player situation off the bench. He's a great three point shooter who has really nice touch in the lane and can guard above his position as a result of his strength and size. I'm so curious to see what Hynes will look like on Cushing Academy next season (and this was a taste) — I think playing with excellent players around him could really unlock his shooting and off-ball movement, two skills he's really good at. He'll probably get some scholarship level looks but I bet he's best served as a really high level D3 player. Either way, how Hynes performs this summer and next season will likely determine his college level.

Costello impresses me more and more every time I see him play. His combination of size, jumping ability, and shooting is as high level as it gets, and it's why he's picking up high major division one offers in droves. He has a beautiful release and can really elevate in transition, and he seems to be putting on weight and getting stronger by the week, which is really helping his ability to guard centers and bang on the boards. Based on his improvement in the past few months, the sky's the limit for Costello. He should have a huge senior season at Newman next year and will likely continue his momentum moving forward.

Joyner impressed me with his composure and floor general capabilities. The 5-foot-11 guard is obviously undersized for his position, but he's a really good ball handler who understands how to get his teammates involved once he gets into the paint. He can also hit the midrange jumper and three ball, and I like the look of his shot. His size is going to limit his likelihood of playing scholarship basketball, but the sophomore could still be growing and should find a high D3 roster spot regardless. He seems to be a gym rat who plays as many AAU games as possible (he played for two different Magic teams this weekend).

Osinski was probably the most impressive player on Middlesex Magic's 16u UAA squad. The 6-foot-5 forward showed off a well-rounded skillset against BABC on Sunday; he knocked down multiple threes, got to the rim for athletic finishes with both hands, and defended his position quite well. He has all of the physical tools you'd want to see in a D1 recruit, and his skillset is certainly in a good spot as well. The sophomore wing is at Christian Brothers Academy right now and should have a big time season there next year. I wonder if he'll transfer at any point to play some higher level prep school hoops. Regardless, he'll be recruited heavily at the scholarship level if I had to guess.

McLaughlin is an ultra-skilled point guard for Magic's 16u UAA squad. He has a beautiful shot release that's as consistent as anyone on this team, but he can also attack closeouts and get into the lane for finishes, floaters, and jumpers. The sophomore guard is at Milton Academy and should have a really big junior season there next year, and I could see some D2 schools being interested in him. Right now, the D3 level probably makes more sense, and I think he'd probably have an excellent career at some of the top end D3 schools. But if he can get stronger and improve his quickness, I could see some scholarship schools getting in the mix. Really fun player.
